We visited Tap & Tandoor On Sunday 25th October for my wifes Birthday which we where having a lovely time in the local bars and then we went for dinner here.
We hear they have a lovely lil gem in Moseley "Zindyas" and we had been meaning to visit Tap & Tandoor since it opened despite hearing on numerous occasions that it's not the best place to put it politely we wanted to give it the benefit of the doubt and wanted to try it for ourself.
First thing we noticed hardly no one in there at all, it was quite dull and dark. We ordered the regular sizzler with the prawns at a additional cost which came out with in 7 minutes. straight away we where questioning how fresh the food was, Onions where not cooked, Portions where tiny (2 Tiny prawns), Very bland tasting and the quality was poor.
We then ordered the Butter chicken with Naan & Cumin rice it came out with in 5 minutes and yes again we where questioning how fresh it was but the same flow followed Tiny portion, poor quality, very bland & tasteless.
Finished the evening off with the apple and cinnamon samosas and sticky toffee pudding which you cant really go wrong with but again most probably shop bought .
Not to mention the Cinamon samosas came out with a vanilla icecream as a pose to the Chai icecream stated, When we asked the weightress her response was "Oh"
How can a Mix Grill and Butter Chicken be out in 5 minutes.
Food was not Authentic tasting at all
I think we where the only Indian people in there.
We Understand that there is a Pandemic but Solihull Sunday was booming and bustling with people in bars and restaurants and also in all the other Indian Mix Grill places in the Solihull and South Birmingham area you will struggle to get seated or will be nicely busy.
Definitely ruined my wifes Birthday meal sadly be interesting to ro see a response.
We are frequent visitors to pubs & restaurants and have no issues with paying however there is a expectation of Freshness, Taste, Quality, Quantity, Ambuance and Service.
Sad to say our experience unfortunately confirmed everything...
Read moreOne word. In-SANE! If you want great food and a massively varied drinks menu - save yourself the time and just go to the Tap and Tandoor!
I tend to go somewhere a few times before leaving a review (unless it's a total crapshoot in which case once is bad enough). Tap & Tandoor is an absolute gem on a place that deserves looking at if you've not been. It's the ideal place to meet friends, it's comfortable, it's got a great clientelle, and the selection of drinks is varied enough that you could have something different almost every time you go! The selection of beers and ales is top notch too - try the Big Wave, it goes down like a bouncy castle at a weight watchers!
The food is really good too. I come here with family every so often and we love the food choices - theres a bit of something for everyone, the veggie/vegan options look good, I tend to have the curries and the mixed grill - I've never left disappointed!
The star of the show for me are the drinks and comfortable atmosphere. I can meet up with friends here and have a great time, I can meet the other half here, or I could probably bring colleagues from work here for a meeting and get things done - the pub is great in all environments.
Just get yourself down there, you won't be disappointed. It's the best place to go out in Solihull town centre for me and I bet you'll think...
Read moreAfter trying a near competitor last week and being completely satisfied I gave Tap & Tandoor a shot. It was worth it...ordered a regular mixed grill, butter chicken, lamb curry, king prawn curry, garlic naan and plain rice. Started of with the grill as that's my goto food and I want disappointed. The parts that disappointed me last week was more than made up for here. The lamb chop was nice with flavour but more importantly it wasn't overdone or chewy. The Sheesh Kebab was cooked well, juicy and great flavour. To be honest, I couldn't fault any part of the mixed grill, everything was cooked perfectly. The butter chicken and the lamb curry were really nice. I think because I had the mixed grill first I lost the flavour of the lamb curry but as I went to finishing it it tasted nice. The naan was really nice and even though it cooled down it wasn't rubbery. Staff were really nice and I even booked the table a few hours in advance. I had a call from a staff member about my booking and he was really polite. I would recommend this place over the nearest competitor. The food, the vibe and overall experience...
