Our visit was not as great as we were expecting. Staff that served us were very polite and quick but the food was lacking. The salad cart was a put off with a fair few flies buzzing around the salad which put the wife off. My crackerjack prawns starter was the star and tasted very nice but the rest was very disappointing. My steak was hard and chewy, considering it was medium rare and it was in a bun which was not good at all for my teeth. My pomeranians however did like what I bought them back! Their teeth made quick work of the steak. Not what the Harvister was like years ago. UPDATE: Having spoken to the manager he explained the reasons behind my various issues that we experienced. My second visit was by far much better. We ate later so I was able to visibly see the salad cart being deep cleaned etc which is one of the things the new GM had said he had put in place. My food was bought out quickly and hot. It was done exactly as I wanted. All in all a very positive visit and a revamp of my score.

We’ve just eaten at the Beech Hurst Harvester in the way back from a wet and windy afternoon on the beach. I had the dirty vegan burger and to be honest it was a bit over cooked (as veggie burgers often are as they don’t need to be cooked as long as meat ones). I mainly came in here to write a review because of our fab waitress, Chloe. She went above and beyond the usual service. She checked out a few voucher offers that we had, to see if they worked, and was so helpful with our two little fussy eaters (one veg dodger, one with no front teeth 🤣) even getting a few chips extra for them so they didn’t have to share a plate. She was a natural with them, which led to the littlest one declaring his love to her! So thank you so much Chloe! Keep on doing what you do as you’re a gem (give this amazing woman a bonus!)

This is a new review based on one visit on April 11th, 2023 at around 12:00. You have to now wait to be seated at a table. There was no one present to seat us when we entered. It has been refurbished, to be honest I noticed little difference. One of the double small tables we were seated at was so rocked enough to easily spill drinks and would have been a nightmare to eat off, some attempt had been made to wedge it with napkins previously and this was attempted by our server when we told them about it! The lunch menu was very typical pub lunch stuff but I was very surprised at the price hike from the old very reasonable to the new medium/top end of pub grub price range. Salad bar is free but you have to wait to be given a bowl and the selection though limited is adequate. Rolls were present but no butter or spreads were obvious, perhaps you need to ask, a sign of cost cutting? The rolls also did not seem fresh baked just defrosted? My companion had a chicken Cajun wrap with chips, the children both had fish fingers and chips and I played safe with Cod and chips. Report on the grub. The children were happy with what they received and there is an option for bigger appetites. The Cajun wrap and accompanying chips were fine but average. The Cod and chips was below par, the batter was soggy underneath and the fish although white and flakey was fairly bland. The usual commercial chips were accompanied by a small pot of peas and some tartare that seemed to have developed a thin skin between kitchen an table. We also had two small bottles of 7 up and two mugs of tea. Time to get the mains was average but we waited longer to get the bill. Total cost was just under 50 pounds. Make your own mind up about the value. For me the highlight used to be the superb staff, despite working long hours they were all without exception happy, helpful and exceptionally good at keeping the customer happy. Now it was difficult to tell some staff from customers due to lack of identity. I was not impressed with the service speed now, an older couple were seated near us but left possibly due to the delay in taking orders. Having said that, our server was very pleasant, and seemed hard working but I wonder if there are enough staff now? Cost cutting?

Review for Harvester in Hayward Heath: I recently dined at Harvester in Hayward Heath, and unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired. There were several key points that were disappointing and affected my overall enjoyment of the meal. Firstly, the mains were served before the drinks, which is a basic oversight that should not happen in any restaurant. It created a sense of disorganization and set a poor tone for the rest of the meal. Secondly, the meal itself was rather underwhelming. The portions were notably small, and the presentation did not make them look appetizing at all. Additionally, the meat was overcooked, making it a challenge to eat and chew. This lack of attention to detail in cooking is disappointing, as it greatly affects the overall dining experience. Furthermore, the service was quite slow and inattentive. We had to keep prompting the bar for dessert options and drink refills, which disrupted the flow of the meal. This lack of efficiency and attentiveness on the part of the staff was frustrating and took away from the overall enjoyment of the evening. Lastly, considering the subpar experience, I found the prices to be quite high. The meal and service did not justify the cost, and it felt like an expensive disappointment. Overall, I cannot recommend the Harvester in Hayward Heath based on my experience. The issues with timing, portion sizes, overcooked meat, lack of attentiveness, and high prices make it difficult to find value in the dining experience. I hope that these concerns can be addressed and improvements can be made in the future.

I have been frequenting this particular Harvester for many years, but when I visited this evening with my partner at around 7:30 p.m. we left disgusted and vowed we will never return. When we visited the salad bar it was clear that it hadn't been replenished for hours and all of the items were either dry and/or wilted, or in need of topping up. Also, many of the items that did remain were cross contaminated with different food items from other trays on the salad bar or items that had fallen off people's plates. I know this can be unavoidable on a salad bar, but it needs to be monitored and items regularly replenished/replaced. My partner raised the issue with a woman who identified herself as the manageress, but her response was at best indifferent. I mentioned to her that the grated carrots were dry and the lettuce was brown and wilted. Rather than replacing them with fresh items they simply removed them and on one side of the salad bar all that remained was some discoloured coleslaw (and there was very little on the other side !). Frankly, this woman was not fit to be the manageress and this particular Harvester has now become a disgrace to the brand !

Very disappointed tonight, my Jerk Chicken dish, was the most unjerklike I had ever tasted, all I could taste was BBQ sauce, it was lukewarm and the rice and beans were cold. My partner opted for the Thai Coconut Veg curry, again a tiny, tiny portion of cold rice and a sloppy bland tasting curry. The waitress was brilliant though, so I've added an extra star for the service! I know you are short staffed, but seriously would you pay nearly £12-13 pounds to eat this? No, I guess not. We used to really enjoy coming here and have been for years. There were also: no paper straws, no olive oil, balsamic vinegar, rolls were hard. Not good when you have an Italian Student staying. I hope this was a one off and feel pretty confident to come again, but Harvester please note, a lot of your dishes contain BBQ sauce, not everyone likes it, please rethink also on your Vegetarian dishes, not everyone likes plant based as it is too much like meat, bring back the Cauliflower Cheese Tart! That was a winner 🥇 👍
