We booked and walked in spent 5 mins in the reception area before a waiter came out and decided where we where going to sit. Just as he started to show us to our seats three ladies walked in - he left us standing in no mans land while he threw himself at them, ushered them past us and showed them to their seats, we just stood there looking at each other thinking (did he really do that). We mentioned that was not good service and he laughed us off and showed us to our seats next to the kitchen entrance.
We ordered wine which came after we asked another 3 times for it, and eventually our meal which came 45 mins later but was wrong. We where given lamb but ordered chicken. When I complained the waiter pretended not to speak English. Another waitress dealt with us but said it was her first day and did not know what to do. The whole place was busy nothing worked - food was literally thrown at the table with no eye contact whatsoever. The staff where flying in and out of the kitchen dealing with take-aways and ignoring the customers.
Even though we had booked, our table number 7 in the window was being used so we got seated at the far end next to a group of 8 men and behind us a group of about 20 - the noise was unbearable for us at 7.30 on a Friday night. However the front part of the restaurant where our original table was, was quieter with just groups of 2 and four. In the end we walked out leaving our full meal on the table. My partner wanted to tell the staff we where off without paying and the owner just waived her off saying "ok waving her towards the door". This is not a good place to eat on a Friday or Saturday night when it is busy as the staff cannot cope. To me the focus was way off the customers and all about the staff frantically rushing around creating a tense atmosphere.
It is good practice to answer these reviews so hope I get an answer and apology. In fairness we have eaten four times in the last 8 weeks and on the other occasions it has been less busy - still with confused staff however. Food is always good though if you get what you...
Read moreI've had a take away from Nizam a couple of times before and both times were good. I went last night to eat in the restaurant and the experience was not good at all. The restaurant was pretty busy which is standard for a Saturday night but it took AGES to get the first drinks and the poppadoms took a crazy amount of time to arrive (after asking when they were coming) but when the food arrived this was when the disappointment kicked in.There were 4 of us eating and 2 of the 4 meals were in all honesty awful! I ordered the Chicken Vindaloo and while it wasn't anywhere near spicy enough for a Vindaloo, which isn't the end of the world but it had no flavor at all, just some random flavorless sauce with some chili powder chucked in, it was edible but not enjoyable. The other meal was a Prawn Madras, this had zero spice and zero flavor! Really awful, we did complain about this meal and they took it back and clearly just bunged a load of chili powder in and brought it back out. I'm sure they put way too much chili powder in on purpose because it was insanely spicy. I would go again because places do have off nights but £30 each for a very mediocre curry when you're trying to eat a bit more healthy...
Read moreThe food was so sparse for a £12 curry u barely get a chicken breast (6 diced pieces) rice is extortionate £5/6 and not great. And then for two people eating and leaving hungry was £70!!!! 1/5 as such a mediocre meal. Was fun you take your own beer. Nice food but way overpriced if was £40 I’d not of written this but felt cheated and hungry after
Onion bhaji £5.25. Two decent sized bhajis but tasteless and oily
4x poppadom £5 rip off how is this the cost! Chutney £2.50. We’d been offered this before the menus so our mistake but for £7.50 nothing special
A masala and specialty curry £13.50 each and if I said there was one chicken breast between the two curries that would be generous. Nice taste just so not enough chicken to warrant the £13.50 each.
2 rice £11.50 again nice but tiny amounts A peshwari nan £5.75 tasteless and very undercooked Bombay potato £7.25 again 2 spuds in oil and spice must cost 70p to make in their kitchens and small small small again.
10% on the bill for little to no service and I’m lost as it appears you pay a premium to pour your own drinks of 25% increase in food costs.
Not for me or people...
