Monsoon Dining Rooms — Restaurant in Mid Sussex

Rude waiter. Won't be going back.

In response to the owner's comment on my review, I'm afraid you must have me confused with someone else. We left the restaurant at around 7.45pm. To give you more detail on arrival we were seated at a table next to a large party who were obviously a family seated at 2 separate tables. Not ideal but we chose not to say anything. I did enquire to our waiter if another table was available and even pointed to which appeared to be free but was told it was reserved (there was nothing on the table to indicate it had been reserved). I said it would've have been nice as it was my husband's birthday, to which the response was "you should have mentioned it on booking". I told him I did and thought he was going to investigate but he went behind the bar and didn't comment. He obviously had better things to do than investigate customer's query! I let that slide.

On ordering our drinks he was obviously pushed for time and was visibly impatient when I couldn't decide on what drink to order. Rushing someone in my.mind is not courteous and the polite thing to do would've been to ask if we needed more time? Instead i felt rushed into making a decision.

The food arrived and was delicious but was served in such a sullen manner I couldn't wait to leave. The whole experience was spoilt by a waiter who couldn't be bothered to serve us properly. The only saving grace was the food and the gentleman who took our payment. He was engaging and polite. A complete contrast to the man before.

The bathroom could also do with a thorough deep clean as there were cobwebs on the toilet brush to the wall. It obviously hadn't been used in a while.

Great food but appaling service. We had to ask every member of staff, some twice, for the ninth chair we had reserved before it eventually came. The same can be said for the manus and to take the order. Other tables seem to have had similar issues with the table behind us asking three times for their order to be taken.

Staff weren't really attentative and seemed to be in complete disarray. The guy who seemed to be running the show was quite rude and everything we asked for, like drinks, menu, chair etc. seemed to be the most inconvenient thing in the world. Would recommend this place for a take away but not a...

We have been regulars before during and after lockdown so thought it was high time we gave a review as we take it for granted. Jay and the waiters are friendly and helpful and know exactly which table we like and have our poppodums and beers ready without asking. The menu is extensive with innovative house specialities as well as the traditional curries and all the ones we have tried have been delicious with a good balance of succulent meat or chicken or fish and sauce and a generous portion size.
