Orange Square — Restaurant in Mid Sussex

We've lived in the area for nine years and never visited Orange Square. We hadn't planned on doing so today but looked inside and thought it was worth a try. Why did we wait so long?

A lovely, friendly welcome from Sarah who, with her colleague, served us efficiently, despite it being quite busy. The menu includes sandwiches, wraps, jacket potatos, burgers and pub favourites plus a list of specials - so plenty of options but not so many in each category that you become overwhelmed for choice.

The food was great - hot and very good portions, the wine and beer seletion were excellent and I even liked the coffee.

I like the fact that it's an adult-only bar and you can walk in just for a drink. I don't think we'll be taking so long to return.

We arrived just after 1pm to have lunch. It was the first time we had been to Orange Square and I’m not sure we will be rushing back. After being seen quickly for our drinks order there was at least a 20 minute wait for our food order to be taken. We then had to wait for around 40 minutes before our food arrived. It was a Tuesday lunch time I didn’t think it was busy. We only had a sandwich and a tortilla wrap both with curly fries. So it wasn’t difficult. When the food did arrive there was no apology from the person who served us. Having some time to watch the regulars come in. They have learnt to order the food and the drinks at the same time. Me and my wife went to Orange Square for the first time, on what was a very rare opportunity to have breakfast without our 2 young daughters present..... needless to say, it was absolutely beautiful. The gents serving us were brilliantly attentive and friendly. The food was excellent and very fairly priced (£12.50 for an 8 piece brekkie, which was more than enough for me, and I'm a big eater!). I honestly thought the fried bread was one of, if not the best I've ever had, and the sausages were of a very good quality.

Both myself and my wife have said that this is now our go to breakfast place in Haywards Heath, and we will 100% be back when we next get the...
