We went to Annie's Tea Room for the first time today. Upon arrival, no one greeted us, even though staff looked right at us; not a single hello or nod, not even a smile. We settled into an uncomfortable atmosphere and noticed the dead flies along the window, it wasn't a clean tea house. We smiled at the staff and tried to engage, but nothing. For a moment, I wondered if I had stumbled into a serious event, like a wake. No worries we thought, they might be busy or short-staffed, and the weather hasn't been great for work, we get it. We decided to wait and see if it got better. Almost ten minutes later, my sister mentioned she received a small nod from one of the staff. Perhaps things were about to change. But after a few more minutes of silence and being ignored, we chose to leave. There was no justification for such poor service; it was awful. We then went to the Swan Revived pub, which was also my first visit, and it felt such a relief to find a welcoming place after the poor...
Read moreAbsolutely beautiful! Popped in this morning for a slice of cake and a coffee with my little one and hubby, and we will definitely be going back ☺️ Felt like such a personal experience, the ladies are so friendly and welcoming, they went along with our little one playing with her new horse (teddy) that she adopted while we were there, and let her 'help' pay, which was really sweet. We had a couple of slices of the vegan chocolate cake, which was delicious (they wrapped up the left overs from our little ones slice, so she could finish it up at home 😊) and my husband had a sausage sandwich, which smelt amazing and he says was delicious as well. I had a lush mocha as well, and hubby had a large apple juice that he says was yummy ☺️ Highly recommend if you find yourself fancying a coffee and a sit down on Newport Pagnell high street. We will definitely be returning as...
Read moreI visited this tearoom early yesterday morning and I was pleasantly surprised by the warming decour of yellow and blue green upholstery on the comfortable chairs. I was the only customer but it was early and during a weekday. I noticed a good variety of cakes for sale and overheard the owner Annie and her employe making more cakes in the kitchen. The tearoom is a calming space amidst the bustle of the high street, void of unnecessary background music. My carrot cake was moist and well structured with a moderate sweetness level condusive to a pot of tea. The overall cost was very reasonable compared to other tearooms I have visited that overcharge. There is a small bookshelf full of books to browse should you wish. I recommend this place and intend to...
