Dropped in for first time on Sunday and saw they were about to start a breakfast buffet. Food was cooked fresh but for £10 a head was a bit lacking in variety. The staff were friendly. The £5 charge for a 2 year old who ate a few bites was a bit excessive. Masala Teas on the house were a nice gesture. EDIT: It seems the customer is not always right and that they must be made to realise how lucky they were to dine at an establishment, ignoring in this instance the reviewer has their own experience of growing up in the restaurant industry. The potatoes were nice, but other items like the four different types of 'stuffed' parathas, which were the main selling point for us, were below average as they hardly had any filling to speak of and consequently tasted quite similar. To make it sound that the spread was expansive by also counting small amounts of pickle, yogurt and onions present highlights the issue. It has also been claimed the cost of the toddler was £2 since we got teas which should have been £3? It seems convenient to include the cost when it suits to justify the price. Was the tea not really on the house then... ? Just a bit confused as I would like to know how lucky we should count ourselves as a receipt was not offered. We were also reliably informed that our 'plates' were filled more than once at the buffet; we are indeed thankful for that particular snippet which in part was an effect of being presented with small segmented trays. We may be fortunate to be reminded of the finer details what we each consumed in a follow-up response by the owner. In conclusion, a buffet heavy on cheap carbs (ie filler), small plates, condiments being treated like main courses, tea that was on the house and then wasn't, being asked how many more puris we were going to eat when we were barely halfway through one, and not happy with the initial feedback. 2 stars at most in hindsight - luckily there are better Pakistani/Indian eateries in MK which we will stick to after seeing the response...
Read moreI love this place great food and staff We have been to India many times and it makes you realise how bad many of the local restaurants in Milton Keynes are with there dishes I personally think this is the best restaurant locally by far The other plus point if you want alcohol take your own as I presume they don't have a licence So consequently don't Rip you off for a drink UPDATED 17/ 03 /21I Ordered last night via Deliveroo Well I'm really sorry but what a disappointment 2 Adi’s Chicken Makhani To be honest iceland do a better one. More Makhani than chicken There was 3 pieces in one and 4 pieces of chicken in the other and really not very tasty Dads Gobi Gosht also disappointing very little lamb and enough cauliflower to feed 3 people naans were rubbish even taking into account that they had been sat in the bag for a while Also there prices have gone up a lot and considering the quality of the food it was really disappointing in India they would have a cow if there food was that bad The Kukkad Kamal Da was excellent though The garlic and mushroom rice was just okay very bland It just seems like the price has gone up and the more expensive ingredients have disappeared I'm a bit at a loss really i don't know if the Deliveroo order makes a difference or they have become a lot busier during lockdown Its a real shame because i believe the prophets go to local charity's I will certainly think twice before...
Read moreVisited for first time and tried the Lamb Biryani which was absolutely delicious and enough for 2 (although I ate it alone). The garlic naan seemed to be plain but appeared to be accompanied by a delicious yoghurt garlic sauce. Service was prompt.
This is more of an unpretentious restaurant, bordering on cafe. I quite like this informality but some might not. The menu is not overwhelming so fairly easy to decide. The only thing I found confusing (and to be honest a bit annoying) is the way they list vegetarian and non-vegetarian. I've never seen it written this way, but I couldn't help feeling this is almost like a dig at meat eaters! It's also not technically correct. Vegetarian dishes should NOT contain any meat so describing them as such is accurate. But saying Non-veg is not correct. Many of these contain vegetables. I think I know why they've chosen to write it in this way, but it does seem a bit pointless; perhaps even an attack on meat eaters. Not sure there is such a term, but would this be described as meat shaming?!
Saying this, the meat dish I chose couldn't have been nicer. So while this menu wording does bother me a tad, I would definitely return to Namji and would probably re-order the same dish. Which for me is...
