.Good food and beer , portion sizes have greatly reduced since our last visit . Took a friend there as i was impressed with the food , portion size and real ales. The plate of ham egg n chips we got made me embarrassed. The staff were quite pushy to move people on once the food was gone and the bar staff in too much of a hurry to not converse properly when talking to them. What a difference 6 months make. On the plus side good to see the real ale pump being flushed out between barrels

The owner went above and beyond. The food was really tasty. Couldn't fault it. The pub it's self is olde worldie.. The atmosphere was calm.and relaxed. Thank you.

Proper authentic!! šŸ» A British pub with clean facilities, colourful locals and very bright, friendly staff. WEE bit dusty and dim.. but that's a proper pub innit.

"Absolutely vile experience with the older woman that works here. I don't know if she was a manager or owner but her manner was disgraceful and downright rude." was a comment from another review and my experience perfectly fits this comment.

I booked a table for 8 people after our hike, unfortunately two people got sick on the day so only 6 of us arrived. Two people from our group went to the pub early before our booking and had plenty of beer before we arrived. We arrived 13 mins late which in my opinion is acceptable and your reservation still should be held for you. The older woman shouted at us that we are late, well we knew it but normally you are totally fine coming to the pub / restaurant 15 mins late. She moved us to another table to the one she booked for us shouting at us that it's less of us only to place another group of people guess what ....6 of them too!

We didn't mind being moved as the place she moved us to was actually much nicer. The way she spoke to us was totally unacceptable.

Lady, you should treat your paying customers with respect. You do need some proper lessons on customer services as you have lost your customers here. The only good thing about this pub was that the meals were tasty and actually pretty cheap of that area, so that made up for the terribly...

I had the worst pub experience I have had for a while here.

Some friends and I stopped here after a 100km cycle at 1.45. We ordered food (which at around £12-16 a main was quite expensive but felt like that we had earned it). After waiting around an hour and having ordered another round of drinks we asked where our food was. They informed us that they had not passed that to the kitchen and now it was closed and so we would not be getting any food. They refunded us the money (although not for the extra drinks we had ordered waiting). While this was annoying it was the incredibly rude and dismissive way in which they informed us which made me feel I should write a review.

This was not an isolated incident on the day as the table next to us only received half their food (not sure how that is possible) and another table didn't receive theirs. The food some people did receive looked ok but it looked a bit overpriced for...

Atmosphere is nice, pleasant & efficient staff, good beer, but the food, oh dear. I ordered salmon fishcakes, with chips and salad. The chips were store bought oven baked ones and was one of the smallest portions I have ever received, the salad was barely visible and was covered in something sickly sweet , but the fish cakes were nothing less than a con. They were cooked almost to the stage of being burnt, but it was only when I cut into the second fishcake and notice one small flake of salmon that i realised the first fishcake had no salmon in it, and the second one had a piece the size of my thumbnail. All this for £10.50 I realise pubs have been hit hard over the last couple of years, but cutting costs where it severely effects the quality will only do more harm than good. So my advice is, by all means pop in for a pint or three, but DO NOT...
