This was supper out on a business trip, we were tired and just wanted some food a few drinks and back to the digs to collapse. Well, what a surprise, this is a nice place it's sort of elegant, nice furniture, smartly dressed waiters who were really nice, good at their jobs and professional. This felt different to the hundreds, that might be a slight exaggeration, but only slight, to the many lets call them "Indian" restaurant's although most of them aren't that we've visited all over the world. This is nice, not massively different, but no stupidness or gaudy tigers leaping out at you. The menu is good, not huge which always scares me a little but it reflects the region's and therefore the flavours quite well and ticks enough of the boxes for most I would have thought. We spotted something we'd not seen before, or if we have we'd missed it; Peshwari chicken. I know what you're think Peshwari Naan, well it's nothing like it. it's not sweet, it's stunning. Out of the thousands nay possibly more, I think I might be exaggerating again, anyway out of a lot of fantastic Asian restaurant's we've had the pleasure to dine at this has to be one of the best dishes we've had. This is worth a visit for this dish alone, to be honest this is why I've bothered to write all this nonsense. I'm hoping that it wasn't a fluke, a one off where the chef accidently put the wrong something in and created a masterpiece that we ate never to be tasted again, it could happen! Anyway, If you're looking for somewhere to eat in this sleepy little town one evening and you happen to fancy a curry then this place is worth a visit. If you go try the Peshwari Chicken and say Richard recommended it. I have no idea if we'll ever be back in Dorking, but if we are I'd love to go back and ask how many people asked for this amazing dish. I might get a free Kingfisher, who knows, it's all well exciting. Don't forget, Richard said to try the Peshwari Chicken Thanks for reading and hope you enjoy :)

Hard to know where to begin. Smallish restaurant, with friendly, attentive staff. We had poppadoms which you could tell weren't fresh, ho hum. In our party everyone had a different main curry dish, and naan. The waiter took our order attentively enough but forgot who ordered what, no matter, but what did matter was that the naans were in one basket and no one had the foggiest as to which was which. Consequently, I ended up with a sweet peshwari naan for my vindaloo! Disaster, really. In any case, the vindaloo wasn't particularly spicy with big bits of onion. In fact there were more onions than chicken, all in all a bit underwhelming and disappointing. However, the biggest disappointment was the sight of Uncle Gee, with his beard, repeatedly pestering us to buy beers, alcohol etc and then serving it up.

A beautiful village Indian tucked away in the cosy little village of Dorking. We came here for a birthday meal and it did not disappoint. Syed and his family and staff treated us like royalty and attended to our every need. The poppadoms and chutney tray started us off well. The mixed veggie and meat starters were flavoursome. The chaat was delicious. For mains I had the saag paneer and peshwari naan which was probably the best saag I’ve ever had. The others had garlic chicken which was 10/10 and plain naan. We also tried the butter chicken, again 10/10 and a garlic naan. The rice was delicious, everything delicious!!!! Would definitely come back here. It was worth the 1 hour drive for sure!!!!!

Always on the hunt for a good Indian restaurant and after moving to the area have not had a fix of good Indian food for a number of months. We decided to visit the Dorking Brasserie to see how good it was. Whilst we were spoilt with a number of really good Indian restaurants where we used to live it seems that this one can't compare with them. The service was great and the staff were friendly enough but the food on the occasion we visited was just not at the levels we were accustomed to. I broke my rule of never ordering the special when the waiter suggests it. It was dry, bland and possibly even over cooked. If it was a real dish on every Indian menu in the UK it would not be chosen by many. I had a small amount of my other halves food which was ok and the accompanying side dishes were all ok but just nothing special. I know what we are served in the UK is a version of Indian food not really found elsewhere but we are spoilt with our own high standards of taste and variety and if all Indian restaurants were of the standard we were treated to here then it would probably never have taken off. Shame but we will...

UPDATE :

-- We ended up going to New Fountain Garden instead -- (I'm not sure if I should review that here for continuity or start a new one, I'll get back to you).---

It's still unknown if we will make it tonight, but the pre-dinner WhatsApp messages trying to organise it have been spectacular.

The reservations system has been very helpful as we still don't know if/when we will/won't be coming/going and it's given us the flexibility to deal with any further complications that happen in the WhatsApp group chat.

The food is usually good and we've no reason to think it won't be the same tonight even if we don't make it.

I can highly recommend visiting the Meadowbank stadium for a Dorking home game before the curry as it adds to the whole experience. We're unclear as to whether we're actually doing it, but as individuals we have been to football matches and had curries before, we also kinda get along so if we all did these activities together it could be excellent/terrible.

Thanks for...
