Tops Pizza Leatherhead — Restaurant in Mole Valley

I have eaten here a plethora of times whilst under the influence and been disappointed by their food. As a foodie, I wanted confirm my negative perception on their food while I was sober. This time I ordered food from Tops late at night.

When I called to order my pizza I was greeted by an affable clerk. He took my payment and gave me an accurate estimate on when my food would arrive. I waited around 30 minutes for my delivery, which was what I expected. The driver was polite and efficient.

I was disheartened by the quality of the food. The crust had the texture of a stale Walkers crisp, the tomato sauce was sweeter than milk chocolate, and the cheese was overwhelming. For a company that has the luxury of being open late, it would be nice to see good quality. I have not visited a separate Tops branch because of how bad the quality of the food is from the Leatherhead one. I am reluctant to say this, because the clerk was a lovely person, but actions speak louder than words.

Despite their phenomenal customer service, I have never had a good dining experience at this restaurant. Amongst a myriad of other pizza companies, I have eaten their food countless times. I am consistently disappointed with the quality of the food they offer.

It saddens me to leave this review about my local TopsPizza (Leatherhead) however it’s now the third time I’ve experienced issues with the food ordered. It’s always challenging to place an order online and I end up having to call the store. Because of this, twice I was unable to get the same deal as it shows online. The pizza used to be top quality but recently it’s been hit and miss with one pizza being cooked to perfection and the other having the wrong ingredients, and dripping in oil. I really don’t want to be overly critical as the staff, do try and resolve issues however receiving the order and then finding you’ve been given the wrong items is very frustrating. Especially when you order food with others and the everyone’s dinner gets spoiled. Last time, I ordered over the phone (as online ordering was impossible) and ten minutes after receiving a delivery with half the correct order, I got a knock on my door for an identical delivery (except it would have been the right half pizza). I was honest and explained I’d already got the delivery and was told I couldn’t take the correct food because of that!!! Confusing and off putting… ended up not eating the pizza. Shame, staff are always so polite and friendly but service is letting this...

I am a big fan of Tops' Pizza's actual pizzas, rather than adding too much tomato which is what Domino's do, Tops Pizza have more cheese instead, and I love cheese. Their stuffed crust is also quite nice - a big difference in Domino's pizza is that their classic base and their stuffed crust are considerably different, but Top's Pizza always taste as good as a stuffed crust does, even if it's not stuffed crust.

The garlic pizza bread is really nice as well - proper garlic taste and nice and thin crust.

Their sides however aren't great I've found, for example the ribs weren't very meaty. The coleslaw smelled a bit off. And the chicken dippers were really disappointing. The pizza bread (baguette style) has always been too moist, when it really should be crunchy. (I've ordered multiple times).

Two sides they have got right are the nachos and the cookies - they were really nice.
