Darwin and Bear Newcastle under Lyme — Restaurant in Newcastle-under-Lyme

Honestly had the worst experience here today. Me and my family walked in, there was no signs asking us to wait to be seated but we stood for a minute or so just incase and then went to find a table. My son was excited to see the games so we sat at a booth and he began to play. We watched as waiting on staff served other people without so much as a hello to us. We watched as bar staff pointed over to our table and no one came to take our order. We waited for about 15 minutes and deduced that we were to order at the bar where we were told that they would send someone down to our table. Food and drinks came and cant say we had a single complaint about that at all. We finished our drinks and weren't asked if we wanted another disappointingly as they were lovely. We then waited to pay for our food and despite seeing other people being given their bills at the tables we had to go up to the bar where yet again we were spoken to quite abruptly. Such a sad experience being made to feel like an inconvenience to staff. Overall food and drinks were lovely but as someone who already suffers majorly with anxiety i wont be returning and will be advising others...

Came in today for food an was told that if I wanted anything Mexican that it wasent possible as the new manager wouldn’t be serving any of the items off that part of the menu as he did not like them ! The only food available would be the pizza …. My friend is gluten intolerant which is why we like to come here in the first place but because the new manager does not like the food on that part of the menu left us not being able to order anything at all …. Was pretty disgusted … remove your menus for a start if u arnt serving any of the food took our...

Myself and 3 friends went for bottomless brunch yesterday and it was an amazing afternoon. Service was great, drinks kept flowing and the food was lovely. Definitely got our moneys worth for £30 each and the staff couldn’t do enough for us. They also surprised my friend with a tray of shots and sang happy birthday to her as we were there celebrating her 40th. Honestly can’t recommend the place enough (even with a raging hangover).
