I would highly recommend booking, I did not but we were incredibly lucky to get a seat. I wouldn’t risk it again as the restaurant was really busy and it’s not worth missing out on the food.
For those who have not been Arlo is a mix of quirky decor with something to catch your eye on every wall but it’s also warm and inviting. The staff are friendly and really efficient and they need to be there was a steady stream coming in for breakfast, takeaway coffee and cake.
I had the hangover crumpet and the boys had toasted Belgian waffles. We ordered two lovely smoothies and I had a flat white too. I have to say they were all bloody lovely!
A hangover is not a prerequisite for ordering this dish and I’d strongly recommend you do order it. The highlights were the small pieces of spicy sausage that were almost crispy on the edges and the spicy sauce but everything on the plate added flavour and it’s one of the tastiest things I’ve eaten recently.
The kids both dusted the waffles and I was only offered a taste as a straight exchange for some of mine which I reluctantly agreed to. Having said that the waffles were fantastic too so in the end worth the swap.
So impressed were we that we bought five cakes to take home with us, supposed to be shared later that evening between four but the eldest had his eye on one he’d selected and ate it that afternoon whilst the coast was clear! The cakes were every bit as good as they looked and as the food we ate earlier that day.
Overall I can’t recommend Arlo enough and I can see why it’s so busy. The food was really tasty and it’s a great place to head for a weekend brunch. Again I wouldn’t take the risk in turning up, book to avoid disappointment!! (I...
Read moreI was really looking forward to a meal here but was sadly disappointed with my lukewarm burger and the subsequent service.
The outside seating here is superb with good strong heaters and transparent covers, so the sunlight can still get through. Service initially was attentive and friendly. Particularly the young man who was very welcoming and friendly. Some nice fellow diners also.
My friend ordered a steak which she really enjoyed. The peppercorn sauce was superb. My burger and fries (£13.50) must have been made well before my friends steak as it was barely lukewarm - the melted cheese had solidified and the flavour was therefore lacking. The fries bizarrely were still warm and I enjoyed them. I left it till half way through the meal to tell my friend when she asked how I was enjoying my food. I didn't want to make a fuss though
My friend however (being all about fairness) mentioned it to the waitress. The waitress half explained that it was because the burger was left out, but stopped before completing the sentence. I suspected as such.
They offered a new burger but I didn't want another burger as my friend was almost done with her meal and we had waited a fair while for the meals we had in front of us. As I didn't want another burger I was given an apology instead. Service thereafter was a bit rubbish and we weren't asked about desserts.
Not really good enough when the food and drinks are pricey to begin with. In hindsight I should have said something straight away or asked for a dessert instead. Disappointed on...
Read moreCame for an evening meal, very slow service. I asked for a few changes to my order (I asked for the brunch bowl with an extra egg and yogurt dressing on the side) waitress seemed very unsure that an egg could be added and not attentive at all. Of course when my order arrived, no changes had been made only 1 egg and sauce all over the salad. I then had to wait another 10 minutes for the correct additions to arrive. Waitresses didn't check if the food was ok and it very difficult to get their attention the full time we were there (even though the cafe was not very busy) they were just chatting amongst each other. Was expecting healthy fresh food but salad was very greasy and covered in oil. Chairs were uncomfortable, only redeeming factor was a good cup of tea after meal. Will not be back, very...
