Was a cold December night and I had a thirst only eighteen litres of draft beer could quench. A light in the tunnel guided me to the warmth of Lonsdale Hotel Newcastle. There he was - the Messiah of Booze. I walk over to the bar unbeknowethed of what was to become.
Next thing I knew my mouth was welded to the glass, time after time The Messiah replenished the glass of the mana of English men, the fuel of domestic violence cases and what separates man from boy.
Balancing between pork pies, pints and passing out the Messiah draws a breath, “last orders”. I pull myself together to lob my pint glass at the girl ordering espresso martinis, bosh - headshot, and thrust my body past the swines ordering dark fruits.
The final Stella. Suckled down with delight. I grab my jacket to go catch my train home. Arriving in Lime Street Station should have felt like home, but home is where the heart is and my heart is in Lonsdale Hotel bar.

I’m here in the pub for the rugby World Cup final -England playing and it’s packed at 8.30 am. They have total 3 bar staff and there’s a queue out the front door to get to the bar.
