It was my first time to visit, and I had a lovely experience! The ambiance and atmosphere was warm and inviting, it felt like it transported you to a different place and time. Me and my friends sat on one of the booths by the windows, and we were thoroughly impressed by the decor and the design of the place. When we came in, we were received at the front of the house and were ushered into our table, and promptly thereafter, they asked us for our drinks orders. Initially, when we saw the menu, it was a little bit intimidating as we didn't know the dishes that we were going to order. However, the descriptions were quite helpful in letting us know what each dish consisted of. The servers were quite attentive and nothing was a bother for them, they always popped by the tableside every now and then to check how we were doing and if the food was to our liking. My friends and I had the 3 tapas for about 17£ (rough estimate) and we were not disappointed. Although the servings look small, they pack a punch - full of flavour and so delicious! We initially thought that the tapas would not fill our appetites, but they were more than enough to satisfy our hunger! And eventhough we were full, we decided to splurge on some dessert - and again, we were not disappointed! Lovely place, amazing food! Will definitely go back for more!

Not just a first visit to Café Andaluz, but my first time sampling Spanish Cuisine. We had booked in advance with it being lunchtime on a Saturday. We arrived a little earlier than our booking but were accommodated without issue. We could have our table for a 2 hour slot on a Saturday which was more than enough time for our pre-theatre lunch. Located across the road from the theatre it was a perfect place to eat. Only a short walk from Newcastle Central Station too. The staff were friendly and approachable, we couldn't order our drinks and food together. It had to be drinks first. Be aware that there's an automatic 10% gratuity added to your bill, you are within your rights to ask for this to be removed so you can tip as you feel appropriate. So what did I make of the Spanish fare. It was very enjoyable. I went for three items of tapas, calamari, haddock, and croquettes with a glass of rose. It would have been rude not to have tried the churros, I'll definitely be having those again. The only real issue we had was we could have done with a bigger table for all the plates!! I would visit again for a treat or special occasion that I'd saved up for.

Attended during restaurant week. I have never been before and our table was booked for after 8. We arrived a bit early but they were more than happy to accommodate us to sit at our table. The food choice was brilliant for restaurant week as you got 3 tapas and dessert for £20. The food was lovely but some elements were a little cold. I had the cheese and prosciutto croquettes and Inside they weren't very warm. However they were still tasty and the portion sizes are great. Service was slightly let down here as they were slow and you could tell there weren't enough staff for how busy the restaurant was. We ordered bread once our meal came as we realised it was needed and it just took too long to come. Ordering drinks and getting your drinks was also as slow and clearing the table room forever. We were there for over 2 hours. The dessert did not resemble a brownie in any shape or form. It was definitely a cake. A lovely experience and I'm sure it's better outside of restaurant week. I would definitely return !

Visited the Newcastle branch tonight, shocking service. Took a while for someone to come to the door to take us to a table, even though the place was pretty empty and plenty of staff in. We were then taken to a table right between 2 other tables with no space hardly between them (baring in mind restaurant was empty), asked to sit somewhere else which we did. The 2 seater tables aren’t big enough to hold 2 lots of the 3 tapas deal each plus bread and drinks. I can understand if the place was full why you try and sit us between 2 other tables close together but all of the space and empty tables in the restaurant made no sense. Service very slow, not sure why as like I said the place was empty about a hand full of tables in . Eventually got served, had to ask 3 times for some butter. No one asked if the meal/everything was ok, we were just left. Had to wait for someone to come near where we were sat to ask for the bill. Finally got the bill and had to ask for card reader, then no one came back with it so had to ask someone else again for it and explained we had already asked for it but it didn’t arrive. Service charge automatically added onto the bill even for 2 people. I would think maybe this is a one off, but whilst we were sat down 2 other tables around us were saying the same (all of us were just left). Other tables also asked for service charge to be removed also. We were thinking of staying for dessert in the beginning, but with the lack of service, we couldn’t wait to get...

My ex colleagues and I meet here regularly. The food is excellent and the staff are brilliant with those of us with special dietary requirements ( eg coeliac and egg intolerance). The staff are so friendly. Today was above and beyond. One of our party became unwell and required an ambulance. The staff were amazing. Helping us to deal with the situation and making sure we had everything we needed for our friend until the ambulance arrived. A special shout out to Evie and Lyn ( I’m sorry if the name Lyn is incorrect as there were so many names to remember but she’ll know who she is) they were just amazing, so helpful and supportive ( got a hug from Evie when it got a bit emotional) so lovely. Also to the amazing customers with medical expertise in the restaurant. These guys are out for lunch with their families but dropped everything to help. Susie the midwife, a lady doctor and a physio ( she might be Lyn) you all went above and beyond to help us. We haven’t had a recent update on our friend but ambulance staff thought it wasn’t as serious as it looked at the time. All the same can I just say a massive Thankyou to you all. You were amazing and credit to your profession. We’ll be back soon hopefully with less...
