This review is purely based around the food hall as that's where we visited. We love having a wonder around to see all the different foods and drinks on offer. It's also great that the eateries situated within use a lot of the produce on sale so that you can purchase something you've eaten or drank in an eatery that was tasty.
We ate in Fuego, which we have returned to numerous times as our favourite place to eat in Newcastle. The staff are always polite and efficient and give excellent service. That day, they interacted with the kids and really made the visit special. My husband and I usually order from the tapas style dishes and share, with the kids sampling things they like the look of. The dishes on offer are exciting and super tasty. The menu gets frequently tweaked with new variations on dishes. One that we always order is the apple, courgette, cheese, and truffle oil salad, which is fresh and light. But it's unfair to pick a favourite as everything we've eaten there has been delicious. There is an extensive drinks menu to choose from, with a nice selection of mocktails if you're not having alcohol but don't fancy a standard soft drink.
The other thing we love about Fuego is that although there is a kids menu, it doesn't consist of the usual beige offerings that children often get. There's freshly made pizzas, fresh ravioli (a small version of a dish from the main menu), and a few other dishes. My daughter ordered the catch of the day, which was a seabass fillet, and found it delicious.
It is worth saying that it isn't cheap to eat here as a family (with the exception of the kids menu, which is a bargain £8.50 for 3 courses of freshly made food). Our meal was quite expensive, but I think it reflects the quality of the ingredients and the fact everything is clearly made fresh. So we go occasionally more as a treat than a regular visit.
Just to mention, lastly, the toilet for the food hall is situated right by the exit where the florist is and has a key code to get in. Which would've been a pain if there wasn't two adults on our table because it took a good 10 minutes to queue and get in and, had I been alone, I'd have had to take both kids and leave our table unattended just to take the little one...
Read moreI have always loved my perfume shopping in Fenwick than any other stores in Newcastle. Unfortunately, yesterday the attitude of Sales and Security employees left my heart crying, displaying a genuine hatred towards non-English customers. At first, initially the Brand Ambassador (BA) was not at all interested, as I was not buying anything from her “section”, however the BA came to assist us after few mins. After the purchase, I asked for a couple of samples of Van Kleef perfumes, the BA denied providing any of them stating “Because I have not purchased anything from her brand, she cannot give me any samples”. I felt this statement way out of line and unwelcoming.
Any seasonal perfume lover knows how perfume behaves after dry down, and hence before purchasing any perfume it is important to know how it behaves on certain skin types.
Ironically, I was subtly getting blocked by their security staff, as if I am about to flee with a bottle of perfume. The glaze of the security staff was intimidating least to say. He kept on his stance till I did not paid for my purchase, he was ready to pin me down if I had made any sudden movements. A white gentleman in Grey Suit was following me all the way through the perfume section, he started from the MFK display and kept on following till we did not went out even after paying for our purchase. I was checking out Chopard and Initio display, the gentleman kept on staring to us continuously across the hall. I felt humiliated, this was the first time something like this has happened in this store.
Being a Friday, I was least dressed to do any shopping, and this is how store employees treated us. Felt very uncomfortable throughout the overall purchase.
My money is as good as any other customers, infact, my card does not have any virtual limit on shopping but I wish the staff for once looked beyond my skin color and had more...
Read moreSHOCKING customer service and DISGUSTING experience. Appalling. Here’s why:
I recently had an absolutely horrible experience at the Fenwick toy section that left me and my friends stunned. It was my friend's birthday, and a group of us went to Fenwick to check out the latest LEGO sets, something we all love. We were just standing there, quietly building a small model, not causing any trouble at all. Out of nowhere, a tall, bald man who worked there came up to us and told us to stop. We were completely shocked and couldn't understand why we were being targeted for just enjoying LEGO, like any normal person would.
What made the situation even worse was that this man continued to follow us around the store. It felt like we were being watched and judged for simply being teenagers. His behavior was extremely uncomfortable and made us feel like we were doing something wrong, even though we weren't. It was clear to us that we were being discriminated against just because of our age. This kind of treatment is absolutely disgusting and should not be tolerated in any store, especially one that markets itself as family-friendly.
I can't believe that Fenwick allows their employees to treat customers this way. We went there to have a fun day out for a birthday celebration, and instead, we left feeling humiliated and upset. This experience has definitely ruined our impression of Fenwick, and we will not be returning. I strongly advise anyone considering a visit to be aware of how they might be treated, especially if you're a teenager just looking to enjoy some time with friends. It's insane that such discriminatory behavior is still happening today. One star is too generous for this kind of service if there were such things as 0 star reviews i’ll just let you know that i would choose that...
