Central Bean Coffee House — Restaurant in Newcastle upon Tyne

Unhygienic and not a good idea if you have any allergies to specific milks. The lad making drinks did not properly clean his workspace and most importantly his steam arms when making drinks. We ordered one drink with soya and one whole milk, yet the same steam arm was used without even a wipe or purging it. Sitting watching him for over half an hour, the arms were not purged once and there was no effort to clean the frankly messy workplace, even throughout the ample downtime he had. He was plump, wore spectacles and had a number ‘6’ tattooed on his right forearm, though I doubt it’s an issue with him personally, rather poor management and general hygiene standards. I would agree best Coffee Shop in Newcastle. The decor is looking tired, some of the furniture is damaged, and has been for several months. This is only a minor concern as it does not detract from the coffee or the atmosphere you can expect. Unlike other establishments I could mention the shop is relaxed and chilled out. However due to it's proximity to St james Park, I have avoided the area on match days. Coffee had good taste and flavour in an ergonomic cup. Barista skills were lacking in the foaming. My medium Cappuccino's foam was presented seperated just a bubly foam floating on top. The coronation chicken panini was okay but not that interesting or creative and bottled still water made me cry it was so expensive.
