My family and I have been a member of the Irish club for years. We couldn’t fault any of the bar staff, they’re all spot on. Unfortunately I can’t say the same for the door staff. On st Patrick’s day, my family and I came to celebrate at the Irish club. My dad bought all of the membership tickets and my partner arrived slightly late, so when he arrived I met him at the front to give him his membership. Pat who was on the door was extremely rude, getting very close and shouting at me saying I was passing my partner my ticket and he didn’t have his own. I explained to him the situation and he continued to get very close to me, towering over me and being very aggressive. He left me feeling scared and very unwelcome. Tonight was my second time in the place having lived in the city for nigh on twenty years. It's pretty big indeed. I, alongside my associates were in the upper function room for a Sunday night retirement job. As with many club type joints it would benefit from a major cash injection. Don't mishear me though, it was very adequate for this heavy party session. We had loads of room to ourselves, nice catering (Gordon Ramsay wouldn't exactly be sweating of course) which we easily obliterated and a good pint was poured. Went into downstairs bar which to be honest was fairly dingy and pretty lifeless.A few people were scattered about but it was quite a lifeless place. The pints we had were reasonable but nothing flash and the toilets could knock an elephant out with the overpowering smell of bleach. All things considered it was a very average at best experience.The bar would benefit from a brighter colour scheme and a bit of a refurb to make it more appealing andw less...
