A nice little place inside the gate. Close to local bus route and metro. You get lovely food and drink at great price but the service isn't brilliant, although we ordered from our table. The staff weren't friendly or talkative but wasn't rude either. Think they could clean tables better between customers and quicker especially as not many customers in but enough staff. I do go in regularly as good value for money. Once again this place really needs to keep up the cleaning of the table I quite often visit this place and have to ask for table to be cleared and table cleaned. I was in recently and had refillable hot chocolate Unfortunately the milk ran out I asked someone in purple shirt but he didn't seem happy to have to fill the milk up. He wasn't friendly or talkative at all. Thankfully a nice man dressed all in black, black shirt, think he could have been manager helped me and apologised because I was asked to use the other machine but it ran out of hot chocolate powder. He was very nice and apologetic. Thankfully. Here are few meals that I've had recently that were really nice. Once again can't fault meal or price but the app doesn't work good because not good Internet here. Also they arnt good and clearing tables here. I had to ask someone and yes he cleared the table but did not clean the table, it was dirty so I actually moved, I asked someone to clear this table and he did not wash it either, this time I used some wipes I had on me😯 No they weren't busy either Been back few times now no real change as you always have to clear tables to sit or ask for tables to be cleaned. Prices have gone up but when they do arrive they are mostly nice Update== been back into weatherspoon and the table was actually cleared and clean, the food was lovely so all is good on this visit On various visits to Keel Row they never seem to clear the dishes from the tables, they take away empty glasses but never dishes or wipe table you either have to ask or put the dishes and glasses on a vacant table and I have cleaned the table myself on numerous occasions They also let male staff enter women's toilets without shouting male attendant anyone in to give you warning a male member of staff is checking the toilets, thing this is really bad Would love wetherspoon to...
Read moreMe and my friends went out for pre drinks for her birthday at the keel row on the 1st June. We sat down at a table (62) and ordered 3 rounds of alcoholic beverages- our IDs were checked before we drank them and everything was fine. We then went to the toilet and noticed that a bigger table (1) was available so that all of our friends could sit down with us- we sat at the table. 3 minutes later a member of staff (blonde hair, fringe, plus sized, green t-shirt, accent not from Newcastle ) came over to check our IDs- we hadn’t ordered a drink at this point, just simply sat down at a new table. We handed our ID’s to the member of staff and she gave 2 of my friends IDs back with no problem however she kept mine and my other friends IDs to have a look at the back cause she didn’t believe that it was real. We waited 5-7 minutes before having to ask what was going on at the bar. The manager (tall, white, facial hair, brown hair) came out and told us that we were having our IDs confiscated because they believed that it was not real- apparently the numbers had not matched up🤣. they confiscated MY DRIVERS LICENSE, MY IDENTIFICATION. the same identification I have to show the police if I do get stopped when I drive to work. I tried to show them my certificate to show that I had passed my test as they can check the numbers on it and they were not having any of it. The women who I mentioned before was very very rude to all of my friends and shouted at us multiple times. The manager and the women decided to tell us that they would only return the IDs to us if the police were to come. So because me and my friend needed our IDs to drive to work the next day and celebrate our friends 18th birthday, we had to get the police to come and talk to the management team. The police thankfully came straight away and handed our IDs back without question- as it was clearly real and was me! This situation was not only ridiculous but very humiliating as it was done in an open space where everyone could see. I believe that something definitely does need to be done about these two members of staff and that another ID training needs to be put into place so that this humiliating situation doesn’t happen to...
Read moreUpon arrival into the establishment, we were welcome with smiles and simple pleasantries from some of the members of staff situated on the floor. However, that was short lived as, while ordering our food and drinks at the bar, I was greeted with nothing but rudeness and arrogance from a bartender that I am believe is named Tom. I understand being on your feet all day and having to constantly serve for hours on end can be exhausting (I work in the same industry), on the other hand I do not think that should justify the total lack of decorum and customer service skills presented. After paying for my friend and I’s food, I walked away from the bar feeling insulted and degraded due to your employees attitude and minimal care of manners. In a more positive note, the food and all round atmosphere of your establishment was more than enjoyable and the rest of the staff seemed wonderful; explicitly a young waiter named Connor who was nothing but sweet and kind to us, and the other customers in the restaurant, during our time here. His service was exceptional and I feel he would be a much more beneficial and worthwhile frontman to have in place of...
