This is Newcastle's greatest hidden food thing. The restaurant is the practice kitchen/hospitality space for their students to learn by experience. Sure, there will be mistakes but that's the point, students need to practice their craft. I was there tonight and enjoyed a fantastic three course seasonal meal for only £12.50. When booking it is important to understand the function of the place and realise that the menu will be limited and not always decided/published when you book, but sometimes you have to take a punt. Took my parents for afternoon tea . Although it was a gloomy day parents loved the view which triggered memories of living in Benwell . Beautifully served afternoon tea , classic fresh sandwiches , gorgeous light scones. The cakes were to die for , every one of them heavenly ,couldn't pick a favourite but the blackberry macaroons were perfect with a zingy filling . I can't believe I haven't been here before! Amazing food & great service. A special treat for my Mums 90th birthday & so glad we did it. 2nd year students providing this level of service & food should be so proud of themselves.
