Our very first Nigerian Restaurant experience! (We went for the vegan options) 📍House of Jollof @ NE1 3BT (near Newcastle College) Just last week, my church in South Shields organised a cultural day, and I was able to feast on EXQUISITE Nigerian cuisine - Jollof rice blew me away. I loved how spicy it was. After that, I knew that we had to give a go to a Nigerian Restaurant. What a lovely experience it was, tasting the cuisine of a different culture. 🌾 Jollof Rice (Vegan. I wish it was spicier though 😅) 🫘 Egusi ( I had no idea about what I was ordering. I just ensured that it was vegan. This Egusi was tofu based, and boy, it was nice) 🍌 Fried Plantain An exquisite experience. I saw the next table having an array of Nigerian delicacies, and it looked like a cultural galore of food. I wonder what’s next to try in this menu 😃

Very poor customer service. I order soup from them and what came was way below half of the normal quantity. I couldn’t even finish half of the poundo. I called to complain and they ignored my call, later picked and started laughing on the phone after promising to send replacement which never came. Do not buy from them. Wish I can give 0 stars

My sure plug for all Nigerian soups, rice and other Nigerian delicacies. I always save up to pay the restaurant a visit, because I always leave with massive takeaways. Explicit customer service, conducive atmosphere, always a busy restaurant and meal is spot on. Cheers.

I ordered quite number of different types of their food. I honestly and sincerely must say their customer service was very good however, I was extremely disappointed with their food. It wasn't impressive at all.

It was as if they just used salt to cook the food. Gizdodo was sitting in a pool of oil, and it was just fried plantain and boiled gizzard which one funny pepper sauce was just poured over, it wasn't even mixed. The same sauce was poured over the supposed peppered cart fish, fried chicken, assorted meat, burnt whole tilapia, and fried meat. In all it was as if we had different types of protein in the same pot of sauce, everything tasting the same, thanks to the plantain that added a burst of sweetness in the dish that was just salt and pepper taste. Ordered a lot and couldn't just start crying the moment I realised, I can't even tell my husband the cost of everything due to the fact that everyone was disappointed. The so called fried rice was another story. I sincerely think I made a huge mistake, it's not worth half the price. We go to places they serve tiny food but the enjoyment is a lifetime memory. This is another horrible memory, I'm sorry to say but that's the...

BE WARNED!!!!!!!!!!!! Would have given a zero star if the option was available. Went into the restaurant and made two orders by debit card - 1st order was for the food, the 2nd order was for drinks. Only bought two drinks on the 2nd order which were £1.50 each and was supposed to come to £3.00 in total. I asked for the receipts of both the orders and the owner of the restaurant said the card reader was unable to print receipts, so I was not bothered because he came across as a polite person. However, when I checked my bank statement he charged £12 for the drinks instead of £3. How low can you be for an extra £9..... And the food was absolutely disgusting - burnt jellof rice and chicken wings that looks like sand was poured on it. So if you decide to still buy food from this House of .........(I need an extra £9 change in my pocket restaurant) go ahead.

Please DO NOT USE YOUR DEBIT CARD...

Would give 0 stars if possible. The restaurant is small and poorly decorated. Full of furniture that is falling apart. The walls are crumbling and black with dirt. We came in and the staff looked bothered and unhappy that we had come to order. We didn’t say anything and ordered anyway. Then, we ordered and they overcharged us by £2. It wasn’t much so we didn’t say anything again. After waiting for the food, they were very rude and unfriendly, talking about us as if we weren’t there. When we ate the food it was completely flavourless. Like completely completely no flavour. McDonald’s has more taste than their food. I am shocked and disappointed because I was so excited to visit as I love Nigerian food. I can stomach the unpleasant environment and awful customer service but for the food to be bad too on top of everything is unacceptable. Will definitely not be...
