Gingerino’s Kitchen — Restaurant in Newcastle upon Tyne

We called in for lots of reasons and were absolutely delighted. Gingerino's was recommended to me by Google as a good 'fit' with the sort of food I like; surprisingly it was true Haha! The reviews I read for Gingerino's are all excellent. We wanted somewhere for a light meal/snack in the early afternoon on our way from Home Bargains in Byker to Gosforth. I know the Ouseburn area pretty well and how it has changed, mostly for the better, over the past 40 or so years. And......we are Gingers! The pizzas we had were exactly as we like. Authentic Italian style thin and crispy, stonebaked, with high quality and simple fresh toppings. I'm pretty sure they'll make whatever you want if they've got the ingredients to hand. Don't think though thick cheese fillled crust 'Chicago style' all you can eat, buy one get one free is on the menu. An absolute treasure and a breath of fresh air. We love you...

Hate to leave a bad review but equally, others need to avoid this place!

Walked in and told there was a 30 minute wait for food. This was repeated when we ordered. 30 mins was fine, we could have a drink while we waited. It was actually 2 hours. For a couple of slices of pizza! Not even a whole pizza!! Deliveroo / Just Eat orders seemed to be getting priority. They really should have paused these and dealt with the orders in the building. I wish I had ordered deliveroo from inside Ginderinos as I think I would have received my order much more quickly!

No apology for wait time, if people were very vocal in their complaining they jumped the queue, just terrible organisation. Other places we visited were just as busy but didn't have these issues. Not sure what happened Was super looking forward to my first visit Lad in shop was great, tidying up after the rush. Love the shop. Ordered Margherita and garlic chicken full pie Not being Dave Portnoy it's difficult to describe the style; half hew York slice half Neapolitan base . My Margherita ( pre made then flash heated)was lacking cheese and sauce and was just dry and chewy bits that did have a bit of cheese on were good but so much dough on this pizza Garlic chicken (again pre prepped and flash heated)was better more topping of cheese and sauce chicken was nice but there was still lots of dough. Like what these guys do by the slice, don't know if I just got a couple of duff pizzas or they are just not my style. If I went back would defo ask for more...
