Nice Cafe with terrible gaudy Artwork
The cafĂ© is nice, the building itself is a good community hub, and it's great to see theyâve hired staff with disabilities.
However, the artwork on the walls needs changing. It comes from "Northern Roots" â a charity that claims to promote artists and music from the local area with "northern roots". Interesting...
The artist in question, Rob Rez, is a "grime artist".
Firstly, grime is a London subculture one thatâs heavily associated with the rise of drugs and violent crime in the capital. So where exactly are the northern roots here? Why are we allowing this to infect our spaces?

Garden outside has raised lavender borders, making it easy for you to forget you are sitting close to the old Great North Road. The building itself is an arts venue, community hub and café.
I can only comment on the cafe in my review, but this place does an exceptional club sandwich. It's worth walking up the extra distance up the high street for...
