ad. I need to let you into a little secret, this delicious cafe bar just outside Newcastle serves brunch until 2:30 pm and gives you the chance to create your dream breakfast with a build your own! đŸłđŸ„“â˜•ïž This is @Gosforth Civic Theatre and you'll find them just 10 minutes outside Newcastle right next to the Metro at Regent Centre. Their independent cafe bar offers a delicious menu of brunches, toasted sandwiches and flat breads as well as a beautiful deli and cake counter.   You can enjoy fresh seasonal food in their lovely little cafe and it's such a lovely spot to chill out and enjoy some me time with a book or meet up with mates.  The brunch menu is really good and it was tough choosing what to have.  I was very tempted to create my dream breakfast with their build your own breakfast and the French Toast also caught my eye but in the end I couldn't resist ordering the Shakshuka which is one of my favourite breakfast dishes.  Served with feta, poached eggs and I couldn't resist adding Merguez sausage. Gosforth has got me very excited at the moment with so many changes and fantastic new openings so if it's been a while since you last visited then breakfast at the Gosforth Civic Theatre is a really great place to start exploring.  #gosforth #gosforthcivictheatre #brunchplate #northeastbreakfast #breakfastlovers #nefoodie #newcastlelife #brunchtime #gosforthbreakfast

A quick lunch with my wife at the great Gosforth Civic Theatre and everything was great. The theatre, in recent times, has gone through a face lift and now it has a great kitchen, which is open daily, to visit. We went for the roast beef sandwich, the chicken and bacon melt as well as a portion of chips to share. This, and a cup of tea, came to a reasonable £18. Definitely worth a visit if you’re looking for a quick and tasty lunch or light dinner. They also have a bar which serves alcohol.

We love GCT, a multipurpose arts/music/creative space. With a bar/food/cafe that supports other small local businesses. They have brilliant events and clubs, a fantastic annual beer festival, primarily run as a charity who support people with additional needs join the workforce and engage with arts/culture/music/events. It's a wonderful local venue with a great ethos. We most recently went to their Father Christmas stories and would definitely recommend that event.

Nice Cafe with terrible gaudy Artwork

The cafĂ© is nice, the building itself is a good community hub, and it's great to see they’ve hired staff with disabilities.

However, the artwork on the walls needs changing. It comes from "Northern Roots" — a charity that claims to promote artists and music from the local area with "northern roots". Interesting...

The artist in question, Rob Rez, is a "grime artist".

Firstly, grime is a London subculture one that’s heavily associated with the rise of drugs and violent crime in the capital. So where exactly are the northern roots here? Why are we allowing this to infect our spaces?

And before anyone rushes to call me a bigot, let’s actually take a look at Rob Rez’s lyrics:

Rob Rez - Kill EM

"Bro you better step back or ill shot you down like a heart attack, i only speak facts, i need cash, im rocking hash stashed daily with my boy Arash" .... ... "Aim shoot and kill"

Is this really the culture we want charities promoting in OUR community spaces?

Does Gosforth Civic Theatre support the glorification of gang violence and drug dealing through its...

I performed here for a private function with my band Boys of Brass. Apart from the client, I dealt with the manager Joe and the two sound engineers shipped in from the O2. Absolutely no issues whatsoever. Nice and relaxed during setup and soundcheck (we used all their PA) and the gig itself was fine. Good service at the bar and standard prices for beer too. Food was provided by two popular outdoor vendors selling pizza and fish and chips respectively. I've also sampled a pro gig as a punter several years back and I thought the venue was great back then, quite underated actually. Check it out for sure and definitely consider it...

This place is a great find. Situated close to the Regent Centre and easily accessible from the Metro. Also just a short walk away from Gosforth High Street to the south. Garden outside has raised lavender borders, making it easy for you to forget you are sitting close to the old Great North Road. The building itself is an arts venue, community hub and café.

I can only comment on the cafe in my review, but this place does an exceptional club sandwich. It's worth walking up the extra distance up the high street for...
