Really wanted to try an authentic Indian restaurant in Newcastle and made the right decision coming here.

From the off, Robin was very accommodating. The charisma and warmth needed from front of house, and we felt immediately welcomed.

We ordered and the food was very prompt and presented beautifully. The food itself was lovely, you could taste the various spices and nothing felt overwhelming. It was a... Carefully curated blend of flavours that epitomised a kitchen that took pride in their work.

Atin (apologies if I misremembered), the head chef came out because I'd asked about the origin of the chef. And he was lovely. You could tell he takes pride in his work and sees food as an art form. We had a great chat about his journey from Kolkata and his vast experiences working in restaurants. He was lovely. It's amazing to see how his enthusiasm and love of food in general transfers into his dishes.

Overall, a brilliant experience. From customer service, to the food itself to the overall feel of the staff.

I'd highly recommend people visit if you want a true taste of India, from people who genuinely adore their craft and put that love into the food and service...

We had the pleasure of dining at Chowrasta in Gosforth on their opening night, and what an evening it was! The place was so popular that people were being turned away at the door.

The food itself was outstanding – authentic, traditional Indian dishes bursting with flavour, clearly made with care and passion. Each plate was beautifully presented and perfectly spiced, bringing back that unmistakable feeling of a proper Indian dining experience rather than the “watered-down” versions you so often find.

The team handled the opening-night rush brilliantly, with warm hospitality and genuine enthusiasm that made us feel welcome even in the midst of all the excitement. Gosforth has long needed a restaurant like this, and Chowrasta more than delivers.

We had an excellent experience at the new Chowrasta restaurant. From the moment we walked in, the warm hospitality stood out. Raju and Bhupinder took wonderful care of us. They were attentive and friendly.

The cocktails were a highlight, crafted with a unique Indian twist that made them truly memorable. The Dal Makhani alone spoke volumes about the quality of the kitchen... rich, flavourful, and absolutely perfect.

The instrumental Bollywood music created the right atmosphere, adding to the charm of the evening.

Another delightful surprise was the special fruit salad, fresh and beautifully put together, which felt like the perfect finishing touch to the meal.
