Arrived as a party of 7 with 3 of my visitors here from America. They were so looking forward to it as had heard a lot about it from us from our many previous visits. They were seated in the side room away from the main restaurant and had already ordered drinks when I got there. The door to the main restaurant was closed to us. May as well have had a takeaway at home as no atmosphere, bland decor. I was quite embarrased about it as I booked, and it felt like being put in the naughty corner. However, 4 round tables in main restaurant were empty until approx 10 mins before we left. I went and queried this and was told it was for a 40th birthday. I asked why I hadn’t been told this at the time of booking nearly a week earlier. Also why I wasn’t told I would be stuck on our own in a side room. They had no answer.I certainly would not have booked had I known. My visit to Gosforth palace was not just about the food but also the atmosphere. We ordered the banquet, not just a quick bite to eat. Very disappointed. Emailed them twice since and no response. Food was ok, but have since found out it has only 3 scores on the door and has been for quite a while now, with the latest check being in March this year and no improvement. Won’t be in a...

A luxury dining experience with excellent service. The gentleman who served us was polite, pleasant, and game for a laugh - but in no way imposed himself on proceedings. A masterclass in excellent customer service. The restaurant is spacious with big tables separated by muslin screens, giving an air of privacy and exclusivity. We had the set menu and were blown away by the value. Prawn toast and ribs to start. Prawn toast was a highlight with plenty of big, fat prawns stuffed in there. For mains we shared chicken satay and Szechuan beef. The satay way nutty, sweet, and just a tad spicy (that's a good thing). The Szechuan dish was an absolute delight. It was sweet, sticky, but peppery and spicy and the meat melted on the tongue. Sweet mandarins as an aperitif were a novel and welcome touch. With two glasses of wine it came to just shy of fifty quid which, considering the quality of the space and the food, not to mention the outstanding service, in a posh part of town was more than fair. We're looking forward to bringing some friends for our next visit...

We turned up on NYE at 18.40 for a family of 4. We hadn't booked and thought we would be unlucky as the restaurant was heaving. They managed to get us a table. Because it was NYE it was a set menu at £32 a person. We had 2 kids with us who aren't big eaters. When I asked the waiter if there was a kids menu he just advised me to order 2 or 3 of the set menus and it would be more than enough food for us to share. He wasn't wrong. We ordered 2 set menus and were all stuffed. We had chicken and sweet corn soup, hot and sour soup, prawn crackers, hoisin duck and pancakes, salt and pepper pork, cheese, chilli and chicken spring rolls, lemon chicken with egg fried rice, garlic chilli prawns (unbelievably delicious) and boiled rice. Sooooo much food and all gorgeous. Would like to come on a normal night to see what it's like but after this dining experience I would 10000%...

We went here for a 25th birthday party and it was absolutely perfect. They gave us the centre table next to the beautiful fish tank (which was the amusing topic of quite a bit of conversation) and our area felt very private due to being surrounded by veils that separated us from the rest of the restaurant. These veils are used to make each table into its own “booth” and really help each table feel to private and cosy, which is a wonderful touch. The waiters were very attentive and helpful, which was good because there was a lot to organise for our party of 12. The food was very good quality and presented so elegantly that at the end of the evening I expected the price to be much more expensive than it turned out to be. The prices were in fact very reasonable. Highly recommended . We will be dining here again. 👍👍

We got the veggie sweet corn soup, salt n pepper beancurd (tofu), and black bean shredded veggie beef (mushroom) The sweet corn soup was a good consistency and wasn't overly salty The beancurd was a perfect amount of crunch with a soft centre The mushroom was an amazing texture that reminded me of crispy beef- really nailed this; however would've preferred more sauce The only negative for me would be the subtle flavours, but that's because I personally prefer stronger flavours

Interior is modern and comfortable with good use of celling hanging semi transparent dividers to increase a feeling of privacy whilst still being in the nice bustling atmosphere of a restaurant full of happy customers. Staff were very quick and very attentive at all times. All good was of a high quality without having to hide everything in over powering sauces. High quality meat and will be back if I'm in the area.
