Worst restaurant experience I ever had. Hot and sour soup wasn't as the waitress described and tasted horrible so sent it back, just gelatinous black goo. Had chilli salt crispy tofu with a side of noodles, they literally didn't season anything. Asked for chilli oil for flavour and some spice, they brought me chopped veg with oil poured on, no infusion or heat or flavour with 2 whole loads added. They also charge for this which wasn't informed. No soy or garlic taste at all for the noodles as descibed by waitress, they brought some curry sauce which made it slightly better but by the time the waiter returned it was cold and probabky charged for this aswell. I didn't pay as it was a family treat so I'm curious to see the bill and all the additonal items billed for. Good scam really, serve bland food then cbarge for flavour separately. They asked if they can cook me something else instead, as I didn't want to eat anymore at this stage I declined as the chef clearly doesn't care for veggie food. I assume the staff don't care how long they take either. I even had to ask where my food was as the people I was with managed to get their meat food on time and were satisfied but not too happy. Manager took some cost off the bill but not all considering I didn't eat anything bar a couple of mouthfuls and made myself dinner at home instead. Disgusting really... the cocktail was the only tolerable thing this evening and worth consuming. 1 star is generous a I would have put 0 if possible. They also added a service charge, but for what in this instance? Never sent 3 dishes back in my life. Manager response was the food wasn't to my taste and never had an issue in I quote '20 or 40 years experience'. No idea what that really means, quite a gap of 20 years so a bit confused by that. My response would be in 35 years I've never been so shocked and appalled or had to...
Read moreFirstly, I cannot talk highly enough about this restaurant very close to St James Park. The perfect venue for groups of friends to meetup and have some top quality food before a football match.
As an Arsenal fan looking around all the reviews of places to go before our semi final match with the Geordies, this place stood out. And boy where we not disappointed. We had the match day menu, which had all the dishes we would normally order from an a la carte menu, plus their crispy duck. All dishes where freshly prepared and delicious.
I can't finish this review without mentioning Yen, absolute gent and he has created a venue where we could go as away fans but where made to feel very welcome by his regulars. He even made the effort to come over and talk to us. Next time we come up, we will definitely go back to...
Read moreWe went to the restaurant to have our Christmas dinner today. Service was good, food was tasty . Schezwan prawn was too sweet.Everything is overpriced for the quantity they are serving . A bowl of soup they have charged 8 pound ,the same soup in Amaysia we get in half price with same taste..They kept 2 bowl of prawn crackers( we did not ask) , we thought it's complementary. As in other chinese dine in restaurant it was complementary. But it was charged separately. Then we asked chilli oil which is very basic sauce for chinese food. They have charged for that as well which is really disappointing. Then we ordered 2 platters thinking it's 12 pounds each but they added in bills 24 pounds each and mentioned later it was 4 portion . Which they should have informed us while ordering. I will definitely...
