I decided to celebrate my Birthday by having a meal at My Delhi - this is a restaurant I have long wanted to eat at so jumped at the chance once done-in became available once again.
The experience began immediately at the front door as it was held open for us by a member of staff and we were warmly greeted. We were shown to our table which was all ready for our reservation. Both excellent attentions to detail I thought.
The restaurant was well set out, very open and airy. The atmosphere was vibrant, the perfect mix of chatter and 'hustle bustle' along with sounds pumped in of real Delhi streets, which only added to the Street Eatery ethos in my opinion.
Our drinks order was taken and the choice was very extensive. They were brought to us in a timely manner. We then proceeded to order our food. The man that took our order was extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the menu items which assisted me greatly. It's always nice to have someone who can genuinely recommend something instead of just upselling.
Now, the most delightful server brought our starters and we began our My Delhi experience. We each had a different dish so proceeded to share with one another. The starters were immaculately presented, perfectly prepared and so fresh. Genuinely different from anything I'd ever had before - my personal favourite was the Chicken Lollipops!
Next up were our mains and this is where things just went to the next level. The dishes (1 chicken & 1 lamb) were both absolutely and perfectly spiced. They were so different from anything I'd eaten in any Indian restaurant that you can tell they are made completely fresh. I have honestly never before tasted food so delicately spiced, yet flavoursome and aromatic - it really was a treat for all of the senses. The breads were pillow soft, fluffy, light and so so tasty. We also had 'Cha Cha Chips' - just order them, I'll not spoil it for you!
You can tell this place is more than simply just a business to make money. This is a place that is created with a passion. The staff were all very knowledgeable about everything on offer and no questions troubled them at all. All in all, we VERY much enjoyed our experience at My Delhi and would not hesitate to return. I suggest you visit them soon yourself so you too can experience what the hype...
Read moreWe went to My Delhi (Newcastle) to taste their exciting menu. They have been very popular and award winning restaurant as the “Best Indian Streetfood” & “Best Indian Food Takeaway” among others. I come from the New Delhi background and familiar with Delhi food taste since childhood so my review has to be fair and honest.
Mocktails 🍷🍹 We ordered “Desi Memsab” and “Delhi Sunrise” for the drinks, my vote goes to the later one as it has pinch of lime which enhance taste. The first drink was lil sweet for me but it looked so grand. The glass with drink looked elite and perfect for insta pics.
Starters 🍗🥗 We ordered our fav Chicken Crispy Momos, Paani Puri & Chicken Malai Tikka. Momos were 10/10 (they are must to be ordered, probably best in the Newcastle so far), Chicken tikka seasoning was perfect, Paani Puri was above average (or I missed someone popping them for me and filling it with their drink), I would appreciate some more syrup and maybe additional texture in the filling.
Main Course: We ordered Punjabi Dhaba Chicken, Hyderabadi Dum Biryani, chilli Nan & Garlic Naan. The curry was top (tip- order chilli naan if you are Asian to make it more familiar taste). I understand that tastes has been kept for Britishers too.
Ambience: The ambience was 10/10, Bollywood themed decor with some iconic Bollywood lines and stills. Don not get intimidated by “Gabbar (Bollywood movie Villain) outside toilet LOL.
Service: The staff treated us so well, they were very courteous and offered a great service (I hope they are good with people other than influencers). We all were very satisfied.
This is a perfect place to try Indian Street...
Read moreI am regular to this restaurant and visiting since 2019. The place acquires a nice Indian ambience. Ever noticed an Auto by the entrance, next to the bar? Yes, you read it correctly, it's an "Auto". If you don't then please google it and do visit the place again. That auto (the one in yellow and black) is enough to justify that you are so close to India.
The food: The chef looks after the professional aspects of Indian cuisine such as "presentation, plating and serving". The portion size is ideal for a person or two (if you are sharing). The food is always fresh and tastes delicious. I personally loved their "Samosa Chaat" and "Dahi Puri" as a starter. If you want to taste the authentic Indian dishes, close your eyes and just go for Paneer butter Masala (for vegetarians) and Butter Chicken (for non-vegetarians). I can bet that you'll not get a better "Butter Chicken" anywhere else in the city of Newcastle.
Cocktails: Cocktails might not be as adequate as food as it's an Indian restaurant so I have not much opinion on this section but you can still try if you have a heavy pocket.
PS: The most important and noticeable part of Indian cuisine is "consistency" which you'll not get everywhere. I tried on different occasions and different times in "Mydelhi" and never was disappointed. I found the same consistency and taste during each visit.
Thank you to Chef Gaurav for serving "yummilicious and delicious dishes" to the city of Newcastle and to the restaurant manager for all...
