Attended their "The Big Family Christmas show" on December 29th with my wife and 2 teenage daughters, and sadly the only "Big" about this about it was the disappointment we faced after losing an hour of our lives.
The description online of this show promises "an absolute melee of songs, sketches, character and stand up from some of the best comedy performers in the region", regrettably however we were presented with an hour of shockingly bad acting, terrible singing and painful attempts at "Comedy", the show for sure did not have any stand up, was limited to just 1 unfunny sketch and made up songs that should never be sang again. The show also describes "We’ll be bringing fun for all ages without patronising the kids", suggesting plenty of comedy innuendoes and acts that despite your age, would provide us all with plenty of laughs, this however was far off the mark, and whilst the younger audience members with approx. ages of 8 and under found the show funny, it certainly did not cater for all ages, this demonstrated by the glum, embarrassed and "what is going on" faces both in our group and around the room.
To top it off, we paid a total of £35 (inc booking fee) as well as a shockingly £18 for 4 diet cokes and 4 small packets of crisps, a grand total of £53 which we may as well have thrown in a fire, it would have been more entertaining.
I am sure the "comedians" on stage tried, are in the right setting funny and I am sure with the right audience, this would have been enjoyed, it for sure was not a family show to be enjoyed by all ages and maybe the Stand need to consider advertising this is a show for those under the age of 8, to anyone with kids above this age, I would for sure NOT recommend this show.
I'm sure they won’t care, but we as a family or even as just adults will not...
Read moreHave always had a really good time here however attended in Feb with a group of friends for a birthday - we clearly did not read the terms correctly (you're not allowed more than 6 to a group) - on arrival we were met with hostility from the staff at the door, it was a genuine mistake we didn't realise the group rule we've been many times in large groups and nothing has been said, they threatened to let none of us in which initially we were confused about as it was just blurted out by staff so got some of our backs up. The manager then came over after things were getting heated and it was decided we could go in but had to sit separately which was totally fine with us. Some of the group do not drink alcohol and were being accused of being too drunk and which was also strange. On entering we began to sit separate - we were then told we could all sit together actually and then were shoved off into a corner at the back. We got there early so we could get comfortable seats. Some couldn't see the stage, some were on stools with no table. And after all the anger from the door staff it was confusing to then because told we can sit together. We overall had a very poor visit, no one could enjoy the acts sadly because the situation was very awkward and spoiled our friends birthday. Considering it's a comedy club I would advise the staff...
Read moreWent last night, clearly an individual with Tourette’s syndrome in the crowd; host & acts clearly unconscious about it. The Stand staff Handled the situation incorrectly with zero openness as the crowd were fully aware. The host was very defensive and somewhat anxious to this individual - he didnt know how to handle things. The Seth Rogan looking bloke. Ultimately, they ended up getting kicked out the venue for something out their control which disturbed the show even more. The comedians were good, gradual increase of performance I’d say. Planned. The last is the best. The first wasn’t funny at all. Venue wise, value for money drinks and snacks. Very quirky. However, the seats were heavily stained, chunks of material missing from the front of the seat pads. Seats were probably older than me. Yet, when the Tourette’s individual was escorted out, this point onwards, the comedians weren’t as funny due to the lack of respect of this individual and their party. We felt like getting up and leaving. We were hearing the anger from them outside of the room and it just ruined the entire vibe. Hearing their other group members repeatedly shouting “people with Tourette’s are allowed, it says it online & Facebook”.. Won’t be going back due to the seats &...
