Yolo Townhouse — Restaurant in Newcastle upon Tyne

Booked a private area out to celebrate my 30th birthday in April. My sister brought her BRP ID and was refused entry due to her card being ‘invalid’ and not appropriate according to the bouncers on the door. We explained it has never been an issue elsewhere and that it is an official government card and proof of her residency, and that her passport was sent away for her drivers licence at that time. After practically begging (so that my sister wouldn’t have to miss my party), the bouncers finally allowed her entry with the promise that she would not drink any alcohol and would leave at 9pm. Sure enough at 9pm the bouncers came and removed her from the venue. We’ve since realised that the gov.uk website DOES allow BRP to be used as ID. For this reason, the rude, unreasonable and incompetent bouncers on the door give this place a 1 star as it completely ruined my birthday. If I’d have known she’d be refused entry I’d have booked someplace else. Unsurprisingly when we moved onto the next bar, her BRP ID was accepted fine. I’d suggest the doormen get better training so to not be discriminatory against those with non-UK passports and driving licences. I don't really like a side salad with a tart as sometimes half the plate is bland salad instead of a side. But I was amazed at just how really small the tart was?!!! The lettuce, rocket and cucumber (about 6 slices) and the little pot of dressing took up about 3/4 of my £8 main meal plate. I was glad I had ordered the thrice cooked chips...until I saw for £3.50 I had about 6 Chips???!!! The tart was tasty but starter sized. I ate the rocket, and cucumber but did not like the lettuce. Do Yolo chefs really think vegetarians like to eat like rabbits??? Not that there was even carrot in the salad! I asked for ketchup got mayo. It was quiet both in how busy and how noisy it was. The ketchup tasted vinegary and of cheap takeaway quality. My friends who eat seafood fish and meat. Have been catered for really well many times and were tonight.
