Nando's Newport - Retail Park — Restaurant in Newport

This was the first time we'd been to Nando's in a few years, I used to go regularly when I was working away, but that changed with the Covid lockdowns etc. Unfortunately, the quality of the food had gone downhill steeply... Chicken used to be fresh and juicy, but now it looks like bits of cardboard and is dry. They've probably changed supplier or the cooking process, it's now probably just warmed up in an oven or microwave and shown the grill rather than actually being grilled. Portion sizes are taking the mickey, a "large" side dish comes a small bowl, eg we ordered a large salad but it came in a bowl the size of a finger bowl. I asked the manger about it but it was the right size, apparently. The "regular" side dishes are the size of a ramekin, ridiculous! Unfortunately, this was the last time, we won't be going back to Nando's again, until they put customer satisfaction over profits. Shame, cos I used to really enjoy...

Terrible experience. My fino pitta was hot despite ordering lemon and herb (mouth was on fire) and my partners fino pitta had no halloumi. We ordered a broccoli side which was sold out but we were not told until the food arrived and we had just been given a salad instead. The first waitress didn’t offer a refund for the broccoli. There was a hair in my chips probably caused by a complete lack of hair nets in the kitchen. The mac and cheese was dry and had clearly been under the heat lamp for a while. There was a horrible damp smell in the venue which was apparently an issue in the area at the time but still not pleasant and to top it all off there was no cutlery despite 3 tables asking for some. Food was yummy except for my mash and my partners coleslaw, the mash was as very dry not creamy like it stated and the coleslaw had hardly any sauce in it just a white watery mixture at the bottom of the bowl (I'm sure it was meant to be made with yoghurt or something). Service was slow and the young lad who bought us our desert looked like he didn't want to be there. I ordered on the app so I didn't have to wait in the queue to order also hoping our order would've got to the kitchen quicker. The atmosphere was okay nothing spectacular due to the issues that were happening. The toilet cubicles in the ladies well, there is only one that was open (not sure If the other one is a store cupboard) and it's very small, which meant there was a queue for the loos too. Overall it was an okay visit but I'm not in a hurry...
