I'll start with the positives. Lovely little coffee shop. We booked an afternoon tea for 2 and made the reservation via the contact form, which was nice and easy. Staff were friendly and attentive. Coffee was beautiful, and our sour dough toasties were OMG! I feel like the price was okay for what we had and the service we received. The atmosphere and regulars were lovely, including the little pup visitors. You can tell people love it here! We will definitely be back for the main menu as it looked great. My only criticisms were that the scones were very dry and almost dusty. You cut through them and end up with flour everywhere, from the inside, which was odd for me. We've had afternoon teas before, but from other places at similar cost, and you usually get a small selection of bite size cakes/sweet treats each. This tea had 3 cakes, which we cut in half to share, which were ok. Although full, I felt like it was just lacking something, not so much food wise, but just something i can't put my finger on. Overall, though, it's a lovely place, and we will...

This place was recommended to us when we visited Newport in early December. We got there early and it was already packed, but we managed to grab a table (yay!). The place is beautiful, it's clearly visible how much love and care was put into creating this space. The food and coffee were very good and delivered to the table in a timely manner.
We are moving to Newport, we were visiting to make up our mind and my main criticism was always the lack of family run, independent businesses, especially small cafes. This place is what Newport needed. More places like that, please!
My only ''criticism'' is how small this place is. We grabbed a table in the corner and it was difficult to move around when someone occupied the table next to ours. Obviously it's no one's fault and I can only wish the place is successful enough to re-open in a bigger location.
Good luck guys, I can't wait to move to Newport and start visiting your...
Read moreVisited Rouge fox coffee shop in Newport today as we were taking our son to the train station. Booked a table on line and on arrival forund our tables. Went to counter to order drinks and food to be told that they had been very busy and the wait could be up to 20 minutes which wasn't a problem as we had plenty of time to spare. After 15 minutes the person that took our order came to apologise for the wait and told us our food was being done next and, we could have a free round of drinks. The quality of the food was excellent and well presented and true to his word he came straight back to take our drinks orders. When we were leaving I spoke to the team member to express my gratitude on the service and professionalism. My wife decided not to have a free drink and he insisted my wife choose any cake/brownie to take home. This was our first visit to Rouge Fox but, it certainly will not be our last. Highly recommend this coffee shop, believe me you won't be...
