I'm Herts & Beds born and bred, but I've lived in South Wales for 11 years now.
I happened to be back to visit family for the first time in 11 years and we found VB on Happy Cow, there being NO vegan restaurants locally when we were last around.
I thought they were demolishing The Wynd, but apparently not. On a sunny Sunday afternoon it was thriving.
The cafe was welcoming and comfy, but a little warm and initially there was no free water available.
The food we had was reasonably priced, filling and delicious. I particularly enjoyed the cheese sauce on my quesadilla. My family enjoyed their sandwiches with the really good focaccia bread, which I obviously had a bite of. 😉
The menu was impressive and different. It wasn't just full of junk which is so common for vegan places now.
Staff were friendly and chatty. 😎
If we're in Letchworth again we will make a bee line to this place! 😍🥰
Pros: A unique and extensive menu, Tasty food, Nice vibe
Cons: One step down to the toilets., Slightly too warm, Water not...
Read moreOkay where do I start? If I were marking out of 10 I'd give it 11. We went there for lunch on Friday. We visit Letchworth every other Friday for a group meeting and we'll often go into town for something to eat afterwards. As they were kind enough to allow me to use their facilities back in early September although they were closed, I felt I wanted to repay their kindness and try them out. Wow wow wow. We're not vegetarians specifically but I do enjoy vegetarian food when prepared well. This was simply stunning. Firstly, all the staff are quite young (or maybe Im just quite old). All helpful and friendly with a smile, we were made to feel welcome. My wife ordered Mixed berry pancakes and I ordered black beluga dahl. The presentation was exquisite as were the flavours. A spacious yet cosy atmosphere with pleasant background music and fantastic food combined to make a relatively inexpensive and highly enjoyable lunch stop. I had to compliment the chefs on leaving. We will be visiting again...
Read moreI think this place recently changed ownership. The customer service is good, the people working there are really nice and friendly. Unfortunately I've been consistently disappointed by the food - there's a lot of form over substance, so it looks great but when you eat it it's a bit meh. I miss the chick pea bowls they used to do that were full of flavour. I think it's a shame they don't work more creatively with their vegetables - e.g. the salads are pretty standard Romaine, maybe with a whiff of rocket if you're lucky. There's no playing with different types of leaves or wild plants... it feels like a lost opportunity. There isnt a lot of love or inventiveness in any of the food. One exception is the BLT bap which is excellent.
That said, the place looks very nice, it's quiet and comfy inside and now there are tables outside which are lovely - it's in a beautiful little street. They have also opened a little shop in response to Covid and been very active in...
