Chai-Yo — Restaurant in North Norfolk

I would give this place zero stars if possible and I'm not sure where to start. We went on a help out to eat out night but the service was truly appalling, my son booked a 6.30 slot as we were on holiday with my 5 year old granddaughter. Now bear in mind they have a reduced menu on these evenings I assume to make it easier and quicker for all concerned, but we had 2 courses and did not leave the restaurant until after 9 o'clock and that was with us going downstairs to pay, as we refused to wait for them to bring the bill to us as God knows what time we would have got that. In all that time we were only offered one drink which was when we first sat down and at no stage where we asked if everything was alright or wanted another drink, in fact my wife asked our server how much longer would our main be as we had been there for 90 minutes and had only had a starter! Also if you zoom in to the pictures of the carpet and chair you will see how dirty they are. As for the food, we had hors d'oeuvres to start which was average at best but to be fair the rice and curry for our main was good but not worth the 1:45 minute wait. It was busy but I would avoid unless you have an awful lot to talk about and don't mind sitting on dirty chairs or using a toilet that is crying out to be replaced. The service downstairs might have been better but we would never go back to test...

Amazing food but laughable service! Shown to our table but after 10 mins we had to ask for the menu. Starters came out, no plates, no cutlery. Asked for cutlery, we were brought plates so went to get our cutlery. We asked for our drinks twice after ordering- they finally came out with our main meal (very watered down apple and pineapple juice for the kids so they weren’t impressed!) Curries came out but no rice, so had to ask after a while and then waited so long that we had almost finished our curries. My daughter wanted a 2nd starter as her main as there were no ribs for mains, but after the 3rd time of trying to explain this she gave up and ate the ribs on her own while we waited, and then eventually her rice on its own when it finally arrived! Visited here with my parents yesterday and was a little disappointed...The menu that was outside was not offered inside - we were given a Lunch Express Menu whereas a full menu was not offered at all. The Lunch Express menu had some of the more popular options, which was nice but my wife was excited to have something that was not on the menu. The food was served quickly and the staff were friendly, but the food was only slightly above average - some good flavours in there but they could have added more vegetables and meat to pad out the noodles etc. I would go again, but more accuracy on the menu would have been...
