We were greeted by a friendly server who showed us to our table. They had only just opened so we had the restaurant to ourselves. After getting settled at the table our drinks order was taken, when they were delivered our food order was taken. We chose to share an onion Bhaji to start, the other half had the chicken Dhansak and I had the lamb Bangalore, then we ordered aloo gobi, pilau rice and a keema naan as sides to share.
The Bhaji soon came out, light and crisp and not remotely soggy, served with a mint yoghurt and a tamarind sauce. Once our plates were cleared we only had a short wait for the mains. The Dhansak was tasty, thick and wholesome with a generous hint of spice. The Bangalore was also really tasty, the meat still had a bite but not chewy, the sauce had a cheeky side that crept up on the tastebuds! The sides were also very good, the naan tasted really fresh, straight out the tandoor oven.
When the bill came we were pleasantly surprised, such good quality for such a sensible price was good to see. Will...
Read moreVisited the restaurant at 6.30 on Friday evening. Requested a table for 2 . Informed in a very condescending manner if you haven’t already booked it will be at least 8 o clock . Looking around the restaurant every table was empty apart from one . Asked about a takeaway and told it would be at least 1 hour. We decided on a takeaway , ordered and paid and left to return in an hour . When we returned our order was already for us . The restaurant tables were still only occupied by 2 groups . The other tables empty. Are you a restaurant or just a takeaway? As for the food . Bland and tasteless . The hot dish was no different from the mild dish. No taste whatsoever. Naan bread doughy and undercooked. Don’t waste your money or time in this place. Very...
Read moreThe takeaway at this Indian restaurant left much to be desired. The food was disappointing, with dishes overcooked to the point of losing their flavors. Additionally, the distinction between a plain naan and a Peshawari naan was virtually non-existent, making the menu's variety seem misleading. The inconvenience of only accepting cash, despite having a card machine, added unnecessary hassle to the payment process, creating a sense of inconvenience for customers. Overall, the combination of poorly prepared food and payment issues detracted from what could have been an enjoyable meal.
Luckily we were only on holiday. If this was our local Indian we’d have to...
