The food was ok, but the staff were all Too Cool For School; upon walking in to ask a simple question ("do you have any pasties?"), I waited by the service counter for nearly two minutes without anyone asking me if they could help. The girl serving the chap in front of me looked at me incuriously, before bustling around fulfilling his highly complex order of a single coffee. The other four people standing around also obviously had highly specific roles that did not involve interacting with a customer, as they also glanced at me before quickly averting their eyes and busily doing, well, not much at all. I worked in hospitality for over a decade, so I recognise the signs of Make Work well. After standing at a clear counter for another minute or so, I walked out. While off on a mission to check out other potential venues, I received a text from my wife "we're at the rude place". Having little other choice in the matter, I returned. The food was ok, and the coffee passable, but given that the name of the trade is hospitality, I feel they fell a little short on that front. Location is good, and decor ok. They also only have one unisex toilet, which is not sufficient for a busy place like this; luckily (my back teeth were floating) the bloke in front of me loudly announced "I'm going elsewhere" before walking out of the place (presumably having paid his bill?) so my wait was that...
Read moreLovely place and have often grabbed a coffee/cake as a takeaway & always been extremely satisfied however today I sat inside wanting a breakfast. Sat by window with lovely view of the harbour. We ordered breakfast. I ordered scrambled eggs on sourdough bread with extras ie sausages and bacon. It arrived with most cheap wrank sausages that were cut in half and were the poorest quality & had definitely been cooked some time ago & just heated up along the the bacon. Both were dry and poor quality. Salt and pepper are just in paper sachets with no mill to freshly grind salt/pepper - I wasn’t offered any condiments and had to ask for Tomato sauce & was given the tiniest pot ever! Eggs were rubbery. Flat White coffee was good though. It wasn’t cheap - with the extras ie sausage/bacon - I think it was about £15 plus coffee cost at £4.25.
I was in a rush & hungry and I could see everyone else was served the same quality so I didn’t complain - I had to pay upfront anyway so couldn’t see the point in complaining - it is definitely the norm there. The location of the Deli is perfect, the decoration is nice and as I said I’ve been happy with quality of food for a takeaway but to sit and have a breakfast is poor & was not worthy of cost. I’m...
Read moreThis place wasn't bad but, unfortunately, definitely wasn't what we were expecting. We ordered the sausage roll, meat and vegetable samosa, chicken and chorizo toasted sandwich, all of which came with aioli crisps, tom yum soup noodles, chicken and chorizo toasted sandwich and margherita pizza roll.
The sausage roll had a strange texture and was falling apart quite a bit and had a very strange taste that I couldn't quite place my finger on. The meat samosa was under seasoned and seemed as if it was heated on a panini press, the vegetable one was the same. The aioli crisps were nice at the start but I wasn't able to finish them as they were quite strong, but if you like garlic flavour in sure you'd enjoy them. The tom yum soup noodle was heavy on the salt and had a sour taste, which I quite liked but some of my family didn't. The margherita pizza roll was tasty. It tasted like a margherita pizza, nothing special but still tasty.
In conclusion, I might come here for a short stop off but won't be running here anytime soon, however, I must say their milkshakes look amazing and the staff were very kind!
