The Picnic Hut — Restaurant in North Norfolk

A few years ago this cafe used to be a true find in Norfolk with its fantastic crab sandwiches. More recently it had been a truly disappointing experience. I popped in at lunch time on a Friday. There were no other customers in the cafe. It took a minute for one of the 2 staff to acknowledge me. The crab sandwich was given to me with no carry bag or napkin. Had to ask for a bag. The sandwich itself was slightly falling apart in the plastic bag due to a tiny smattering of actual crab filling and mostly cucumbers and green salad. My friends and I have been staying in Wells-Next-To-Sea for the week, and have taken 3 trips to their welcoming and friendly cafe. Emma and her mother, have provided the best customer service, and very tasty milkshakes. The milkshakes were so good we had to go back the next day; leading onto another day, being our third time visiting!!! Used to love this place. Visit every year. However now they are just profiteering. I get that they have to make up for lost time but £7.95 for a crab sandwich in which any white crab was indiscernible and was in any case overwhelmed by cucumber and lettuce leaves is just not on.
