I'd never been into Bang, it is one of the more recent businesses that opened and it replaced my favourite bar at the time called "the corner house".
That said, the interior is nice, well designed and comfortable. I had a meeting with an old friend there. The menu looked strong in options but given it was morning and that we're both partial to a breakfast we opted to get the breakfast.
The breakfast was nice. The ingredients were of a higher standard than your average breakfast and they were well cooked / prepared.
My issue with the breakfast is that even with the ingredients being the quality they indeed are, I think I'd feel happy paying £8 for it as opposed to the whopping £10.50 it cost.
I live in London currently (have for the last 5 years) and if I can go into Dishoom and buy the "KEEMA PER EEDU" breakfast for £10:90 or the "PARSI OMELETTE" for £7.20 then I think the pricing for some places in wells is over-inflated. Now I understand wells is trying to raise it's market and attract more wealthy customers but these businesses need to be smarter, they need to realise that there is a devoted local population that can provide income all year round VS the few months a year the tourism seasons provide. I think that personally, while some items seemed reasonably priced, others mostly certainly are not, and I'm comparing this with the metropolitan areas of London where the average customer has more disposable income.
The business that captures both the tourism and the locals is truly the one that will profit in wells, many come and many go from not learning...
Read moreVisited for lunch as we walked past and the menu looked good and it didn't seem very busy inside. Unfortunately even though it wasn't busy the service time was terrible, firstly attempted to take our order just as we sat down without even having a chance to check the menu fully. We gave a drink order and when the drinks were brought out the waiter just walked off before we could order our food. After waiting for a good fifteen minutes I went up to the bar to order. Ten minutes later a waitress tells us there is a twenty minute wait on food. Half an hour later I have to ask at the bar where our food is. I was told it was the next one being prepared. My girlfriend then told me two tables that had arrived after us had been served already. It appeared that they were taking food orders one at a time even though there were several people working front of shop and they were cooking meals one table at a time. When I approached a member of staff to request my bread as it hadn't been bought out with the meal she actually rolled her eyes at me as I walked up as she remembered me from complaining earlier. The staff were somewhat apologetic but only when I complained. On the positive side the food was excellent, of a very high quality and we'll prepared and presented, the cafés decor and ambience is lovely it was such a shame it was let down by such...
Read moreBang in Wells Next the Sea is a dog-friendly bistro offering a splendid selection of seafood. The menu blends traditional English dishes with several European and Asian alternatives, such as paella and curry, and includes a daily catch of fish.
The beverage options were excellent, especially the wine and the guest ale.
The service was friendly, and the food was promptly prepared and served. However, we felt somewhat neglected as the restaurant was preparing for a busy Thursday evening during our visit from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm. Consequently, the dessert options were limited to ice cream, as the kitchen was gearing up for the evening rush. The staff missed opportunities to offer hot drinks at the end of the meal.
The burger was quite enjoyable, albeit slightly overcooked and dry. This tendency to prepare beef well done by default seems common in the area.
The fish and chips were also tasty, but don't expect the portion size of a typical fish and chip shop.
The side salads were flavorful and fresh.
Our 8-year-old son thoroughly enjoyed his seafood platter, with his only comment being that it was a bit salty. Nonetheless, this didn't prevent him from finishing the entire plate.
In conclusion, we had a pleasant meal, but it didn't leave us thoroughly impressed, and we departed with a slight sense of...
