Called for lunch today with my husband and daughter. First time since it had reopened from the refurbishment. Plenty of people outside with drinks as was nice and sunny. We chose to eat inside, there was plenty of seats as not busy. TV's on the wall had lots of sport showing. Ordered from the menu at the bar Korean Chicken Burger (requested no tomatoes ) Gammon and BLT sandwich with portion of fries. 2x Diet Coke and 1 orange cordial and water. Was surprised at cost was expecting it to be more. My orange cordial and water came with soda water and the cordial was measured, had to ask for more cordial, even then, all I could taste was soda water. Maybe I should have said something at the time but it had already been made. Waited approximately 15 mins for the food which is fine, it was freshly made. Firstly I noticed the Korean chicken burger came with tomatoes even though I had specifically asked it not to. Luckily my daughter just picked them off. Next my BLT sandwich which looked lovely but was toasted, even though it doesn't say it's toasted on the menu. Tasted alright and so did the side salad which had a nice dressing with it. I definitely would have preferred my sandwich not to have been toasted. Had I known I would have asked for it not to be. The gammon was a good size steak with the extras and my husband said was very nice. All in all the portion sizes were good, I thought the food was good value for money, but there were some little things that are easily fixed. Would we go back,...
Read moreFirst time in the Bull since it's opening.20.7.25. What a transformation. Its lovely inside and outside. I had been in the Bull when the previous owners had it, but it was run down so never tried to food. Excellent service from natalie. Well done.now the down side. I have given 4 stars because having ordered 3 meals, at £42 and then a round of drinks at £7 , I did expect the food order to be correct. 2 mixed grills we oredered, had the tomatoes and onion rings missing from our plates. My wife's mushroom and ale pie came as a steak pie, with the wrong veg. The sausage on the grill had no colour to it. Silly errors I know, but the chef needs to stick to the menus at the table, and not get flustered and make silly errors. The place wasn't busy with customers wanting food. I did see an error for food on another table. This experience won't put me comeing back, I'll just check what's on the menu, and point it out when ordering. There was a 30 minute wait for food , but we weren't in a hurry . All in all, it's a nice pub for a good meal, family friendly, plenty of tables inside and out. I will be back, and wish the new owners the best of luck in there new venture. I'm sure your locals appreciate what you have done.👍👍👍🍺🍺 As a footnote, the food is not wetherspoon rubbish. Its just good pub food at a...
Read moreSix of us went for Sunday lunch for a birthday celebration. We won't be returning. We thought others held the same opinion, as the place was very quiet.
The main courses were just under a tenner. The food varied between bland and tasteless. Had I been blindfolded, I wouldn't have known I was eating chicken. The roast potatoes were shrivelled and hard. They appeared to have been bought in frozen and were reheated leftovers from the day before. My sister-in-law actually asked what they were on my plate! Yorkshire puddings were ready made and were like leather. The single, small piece of broccoli appeared fresh, as it was still virtually raw. One of our company ate only the roast beef (which looked like it had been cut on a bacon slicer rather than carved from a joint) and left everything else. We ordered six apple pies for dessert but only four were available - it was just after 12:30, so there hadn't been an unexpected demand. Again, probably left over from the previous day. It was also commercially processed and heated on the premises. No pouring cream, only squirty. The custard was a case of "One lump or two? " The good point was that the portions were small. Two declined the optional desserts and others wished they had done the same. Ninety pounds...
