DO NOT EAT HERE UNLESS YOU LIKE COLD FOOD!! We've been here for food 3 times (it's always good to give somewhere another chance or 2), but on ALL 3 occasions, our food was cold! It's so frustrating, as the potential is there, but it's like the staff really don't care enough about their food, their customers, the overall Lounge experience, etc. When you tell the manager that your food is cold, his response always tends to be mediocre at best- perhaps reflecting the temperature of the food or the mood of the staff here in Ashby overall...sort of muted and lacklustre. We never understand why there can't at least be an apology for cold food! We don't even expect a refund, but an apology would be nice.
The one plus, is that the atmosphere which the other customers appear to create is good, and the old building and its décor is really lovely. In terms of overall service, some of the staff here are friendly and seem to work really hard, but others are lazy and clearly can't be bothered with their jobs (as mentioned above), and everything just seems to take sooooo long to arrive (yes, we know you're busy- you keep telling us!)...
We have been here once for just drinks too and that was a better experience, so perhaps it's better that people are aware of the issues with the food being cold and slow to arrive, and just come for drinks instead. It's not worth spending your hard-earned money on cold, distinctly average food- Ashby has MUCH better food options with better service too (and yes, we know you're busy at Centivo Lounge...!). Overall, another disappointing and frustrating...
Read moreAlright, so, let me spill the beans on my three rendezvous with Centivo Lounge in Ashby de la Zouch. It's been a pretty tasty experience so far: swanky decor that matches the vibe perfectly, and the place is consistently buzzing, but in a cool, not chaotic way – just the right mix for a great brunch/lunch time.
Major shoutout to the FOH team! Their efficiency and attentiveness contribute significantly to the overall positive ambiance of the place. Chatty, helpful, and on the ball...Top-notch service!
The kitchen squad deserve a big shout-out too – the food menu has got a bit of everything for everyone, which is a win in my book and the food is usually in front of you shortly after your drinks arrive... spot on!
But, if I were to be picky, The Lounge Breakfast looks stunning, but my roasted tomato was simply kissed by the solid top, leaving it cold and raw, and the mushrooms were a bit bland. However, bacon and eggs – absolute rockstars!
The Twisted Chicken Club Ciabatta is the real deal. The edamame guac, though? Like two mates not quite on the same wavelength. Still tasty? – absolutely!
The Chicken Bacon and Avocado Burger is a banger, but the slaw on the side? Needed a pep talk. A little vinegar dressing or some minty freshness could do wonders to wake it up a bit (perhaps?)🍔🎉
In a nutshell, the new Centivo Lounge needs a bit of tweaking here and there, but overall this place promises great food, great drinks and great people. I am yet to hit up the evening scene or fully tackle the drinks menu yet, but mark my words, I'll be coming...
Read moreThis is an amazing restaurant that serves fantastic food. Lovely coffee and perfectly created cocktails. I have been multiple times, and each time seems to be better than the last. There is plenty of seating and the ability to book tables for 6+ people in advance. Lovely seating areas at the rear of the property outside. As well as brilliant artwork and quirky, yet tasteful decor everywhere.
There is Disabled access at the side of the building. However, I would suggest possibly calling in advance to check the door is unlocked or for help with opening the door. Also to check, it's free from obstructions; As there are seating areas behind the door, and this restaurant can be extremely busy.
Now, from a wheelchair users perspective, as much as I love this place, the space available when busy is minimal and does make me feel very uncomfortable and in the way. However this is an extremely old building and therefore there is little tahg can be done about the interior space etc. The staff are extremely polite, friendly and super helpful and I'm sure that they will be willing to help accommodate to their customers needs. Again, maybe ring I advance before arrival to explain your requirements.
I would also suggest that people who are sensitive to sound ( such as multiple people talking, loud laughter, clettering etc) be aware that this can be a very overwhelming restaurant at busy time periods and may be best to visit at quieter...
