On our visit to Bangor we tried this restaurant, all food here is Halal, it is at street corner and on 1st floor with no accessibility option, we parked our buggy downstairs and went up. The environment is good, it can become busy depending on the day and time so on busy days booking might be required. We didn't as it was not extremely busy. Apparently Saturday nights are busy due to live music till late. We were served Papadom with tamarind mixed onions (quite tasty) and some sauces to enjoy. Our order was modest included garlic nan (soft and tasty) with grilled tandoori platter (this was tasty and came with chefs sauce), this was good as well. The drinks do not include traditional drinks like lassi, or chai however when we asked we were served with sweet plain lassi and mango lassi, out of these mango was quite nice, no takeaway option for drinks though. All staffs were friendly and very nice environment. Would recommend for desi/southasian taste buds.
Some of food is excessively coloured but I guess in some cultures this is norm and it's not a negative point, just a pointer for...
Read moreWe went here with family after hearing such good things. Now the food is plentiful....one rice would definitely do 2 people. The mixed starter was OK but the poppadoms had clearly been made during day as they had started to go soft. The curry's were good although they were all the same colour which seemed weird! What let the meal down was the peshwari naan. We all agreed it was our favourite so ordered 3 between 4 of us but it soon became evident that the coconut element was basically big, and I mean big, lumps of sticky sickly sweet coconut bound together with syrup I'm guessing. I have never experienced a peshwari like it! We couldn't eat any of it apart from a bit of the dough which was dry and tasteless. We said to the waitress that they were inedible but all she said was that the garlic naan was good and did we want to take them home!!! Safe to say, despite the good reviews we will not...
Read moreVery disappointed with the new year party night.. have been going here for a few years and this was by far the worst night I have experienced at the Bokhara and also the most expensive. Absolutely no party atmosphere. The young guy that performed the entertainment was ok for a quiet drink elsewhere but not a New Year’s Eve party... A DJ playing party tunes would have been sufficient and less expensive ..the price has gone up each year and no spirits included in all inclusive night.. the food was well below average for the Bokharas normally high standard.. I know the owner was very aware of how the night was going when I approached him about it.. was very embarrassing to say the least for the Bokhara and I most certainly will not be recommending this to any of my family and friends .. utterly...
