This has got to be the worst experience I've ever had in a restaurant!!!! Would give it zero stars if I could as they failed to get anything right. Booked to go with my family for one of the fun factory events just before Xmas. Explained that one of my party was a wheelchair user and another was a young child. As a result of this it was important to get seats near the play area and at the higher tables. Despite being assured at the time of booking that this would be the case, when we arrived all those tables were reserved and we were seated at the lowest tables at the far side of the restaurant away from the play area. The table was definitely not suitable for wheelchair users and my poor sisters legs were absolutely squashed under the table for the whole meal!!! As we were so far away from the play area I also had to constantly leave my meal to check on the well-being of my child. And the worst was yet to come! When the waiter brought our drinks over he actually spilt them all over my mother from the tray he was trying to balance. And when one drink fell they all fell, one by one.....over my mother! The response from the manager was appalling. He came over and offered to pay for dry cleaning if it was needed. But no apology given either verbally or in kind. Where other restaurants would have offered a sincere apology and a token gesture of same, le winters offered nothing. I rang le winters after my visit to give feedback about how unhappy I had been with our treatment. I spoke with a different manager who had also apparently been on shift as well at the time. Her response also left a lot to be desired as she was more concerned for the waiter who spilt the drinks. And while I know that accidents can happen and didn't blame him for it, I felt the manager should have made more of an effort to empathize with the feelings of my poor mother who left le winters drenched and sticky!!! Overall the food was just okay. Small portions. Bland. Not a garnish in sight. As for the service........ it was shocking from beginning to end! WE WILL NOT BE BACK!!
In response to the owner's response and the attitudes expressed, I would like to reiterate that this is why we were so unhappy with our visit. We felt that no-one took responsibility for their actions and were very dismissive when when we tried to give feedback regarding same. As I have said before we felt like everyone's attitude towards us was appalling. The waiter was at fault for spilling the drinks. I do not expect a crèche facility when I go to a restaurant and am perfectly capable of looking after my own child. My sisters legs were squashed under the table and I feel it is unreasonable for anyone else to assume they know better than the wheelchair user about the area they should sit in and fail to listen to their account of the experience they have had. . We booked several weeks in advance requesting the tables nearest the fun factory and were told at the time of booking that this could be accommodated. I was very specific about my booking as I wanted it to be a lovely family day out. When you have to consider the needs of children and someone in a wheelchair, a lot of planning and organisation goes into any day out. I have to add that my sister had been to the restaurant before and there are tables that are more suitable for wheelchair use! It would appear from other negative reviews that criticism does not appear to be accepted by the restaurant. Thankfully we have been able to find several other restaurants that meet our needs and can exercise choice and avoid this type of poor treatment...
Read moreThe worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. I would give zero stars if I could. Firstly, the waiter spilled a drink on my autistic brother, it was replaced and he was apologetic but a nightmare start. Our order was then taken but after sitting waiting around 25 minutes we called on a waiter to ask what was happening. The waiter then informed us that the order had "disappeared", we couldn’t believe it and were in shock. I will give this waiter credit, he was very apologetic and actually managed to take our order correctly, he was attentive and checked in on us to make sure all was good. We were told after by the manager that the order had “disappeared into the ether". Ridiculous and unprofessional. If they were busy we would understand but it was pretty empty I thought for a Saturday night. We got our food soon after and it was decent enough but not as nice as when I had previously ordered from home, the beef on them occasions was melt in your mouth stuff and it was perfect. Also felt I got more value for money back then as there was mash included with the silverside but wasn’t on this night. Previously it was £17 for a roast and now it’s £21 so you’re paying more for less. In all honesty though the initial woeful service took so much away from it and ruined my meal. A discount was rightly given but it has put me off coming back.
Edit 22-01-25 Here comes the owner with the arrogance and lies in reply, bit late on it like our order that night. If it wasn't for my sister shouting on a waiter asking where our order was we'd probably still be sitting there. I don't know what 10 minutes is in your world but in reality it was 25 minutes or maybe more without even a starter and no waiter noticed or mentioned anything we had to shout on one to ask what was happening. The discount was given because our experience was terrible and your staff knew it so of course we'd accept it. No mention of my autistic brother getting soaked either? I think that was included in the discount also but you wouldn't want to mention that. We were set for ordering desserts but the service was that bad we made the choice not to give you any more money and it'll be staying that...
Read moreA tale of two halves, food good, service appalling.
From the get go it was poor service, a table for 5, sure put them on a table set for 6 and don't take away the extra place setting.
Waitress taking the order was a bit surly and gave the impression she wasn't interested.
Starters took a little too long to come but were plentiful and good, soup, huge bowl, cheesy potato wedges, warm and well seasoned, pate with great taste and good onion marmalade, as usual with most restaurants not enough toast.
I will give good marks to the staff bringing the food, fast and efficient.
Main course arrived in a much better time, we had pork loin chops, honey chilli chicken, chicken goujons, beef brisket and sea bass...all very nice, personally could have done with the greens that came with the sea bass tasting a little less salty.
Dessert menus were presented, the specials mumbled and ok we only wanted one pavlova and one coffee.
The coffee came and was enjoyed and finished...and still no pavlova...in fact another 10 minutes passed before the pavlova appeared and when it did it was on a warm plate, I sincerely hope the delay wasn't because they had no clean plates.
The waitress who came to clear the plate, it wasn't so much a question of are you finished, it was more a gruff finished with a raised eyebrow and a scowl.
It was so disappointing for what was a special occasion to be let down by what...
