I visited the bentley this evening after wanting to pay a visit as I used to thoroughly love and enjoy this establishment.
Was met by a kind young man who directed us to our seats and took our order for drinks, received our drinks and the same waiter then took our order for food. Starters arrived - I ordered potato skins and was served a portion of potato wedges. Didn't think to say much of it, possibly, the chefs got it mixed up. Starters were lifted swiftly off the table and we were then given our mains. I ordered a vegetarian dish - wild mushroom and truffle ravioli. The dish was placed in front of me and was DROWNED in balsamic vinegar. I looked straight at my partner who's reaction was much the same as mines. Balsamic is a glaze, used to dress food, not disguise the flavours of the dish itself. I thought I'd try it and upon eating the dish itself the pasta was severely undercooked and all I could taste was balsamic vinegar, there was no taste of mushroom or truffle (truffle is a very overpowering flavour so surely I should've tasted this), I asked my partner to try and he felt the same. At this point I had settled on just eating my side, a portion of underdone garlic cubes and a lovely waitress came to check on us. I explained to her that my dish had been drowned in balsamic vinegar and it wasn't what I expected and she lifted the dish off the table and took it back to the chefs.
Can I just add here that I had full visibility of the pass where the chefs were standing and could clearly see the interaction between the waiting staff and chefs regarding my food, sniggering while pointing towards our table, i was so embarrassed.
The chefs instructed the waitress to read the menu, where it noted that the ravioli would be dressed with balsamic vinegar (not drowned) and told the waitress to return the food to my table and point out on the menu where it stated that balsamic vinegar was included in the dish. The issue was not that it was included, but that the dish was DROWNED in it and I couldnt taste anything other than vinegar.
As a waitress myself I was mortified to see the chefs react in this way and the fact that they demanded that the young waitress returned the food to my table after I had asked if it could be changed.
Again, can I mention that the pass was visible to me and i could see the chefs and other staff sniggering and laughing at me. This was completely unfair and truth be told was highly unprofessional. I have received many complaints about food myself and have liased with chefs to ensure that customers are happy, never in my 10 years of working in hospitality has a chef told me to go back and tell the customer that they were wrong.
Myself and my partner walked out. The chefs, waiting staff, and management did not help us come to a resolution and just embarrassed me even more.
Management and supervisors within the Bentley need to have conversations with their staff regarding dealing with complaints, and should maybe make their passes less visible, as their chefs clearly arent able to maintain a professional composure around customers who can clearly see them.
I have been a paying customer for years and safe to say i will not be returning. So...
Read moreYesterday our group of 4 waited 20 minutes to be seated and in that time every other group who arrived after us got seated straight away. As we were about to sit down at our allocated table, a woman who came in after us demanded she wanted our table so we were made to move by staff to a dark table next to the noisy bar where the sounds of smashing glasses interrupt conversation. We then waited an hour and a half for our food whilst we watched others who came in after us get served and finish their meals. When we finally got served one of the members of our group didn’t receive her food for an additional 10 minutes. When their food finally came she took one bite before the waiter came and snatched the plate from her without an explanation and walked away. 10 minutes later he came back and explained they had given her chicken instead of veggie pasta! When we were finished I asked to use my student discount only to be told it was expired and wouldn’t work when that wasn’t true. I was fortunately able to get my discount after he asked another member of staff who told the waiter my student discount was perfectly fine to use? By the time we had paid we were the last ones in the restaurant and a female member of staff came to our table and told us to hurry up and leave as they were cleaning up. Bear in mind we had the table booked for 7pm and didn’t get served till 8:30pm, what nerve they had to tell us to hurry up?! My friends had buses home for 9pm and they all missed them due to the terribly slow and cheeky service...

We stopped by for dinner. The food came out within 10 minutes of ordering, which at any establishment except for McDonald's is not a good thing.
One of us ordered the steak and Guinness pie, which came out piping hot for being microwaved. The mashed potatoes were flavorless and dry, but salvageable with packet gravy. Mushy peas were not worth much.
The other ordered a chicken breast with white wine and mushroom sauce. We asked the waiter which sauces were gluten-free, and the waiter said all could be made gluten-free except for one (perhaps the gravy). The menu indicated otherwise, but we trusted the waiter, as it is common for restaurants to be able to make modifications like this. Unfortunately, the sauce was not gluten-free, and now one of us is stuck in bed nursing a flare-up of celiac disease.
The decor is horrifyingly tacky, with music that is too loud, pink lighting everywhere for no good reason, and American sports on the television.
McDonald's offers better value and carries a lower allergen risk. Do not bother...
