Badgers Bar & Restaurant has over 1000 Google Maps reviews and a great star rating, so my son and I decided to head here for lunch during our trip to Derry/Londonderry today. Now, I'll caveat this by saying that it seemed exceptionally busy for a Wednesday lunchtime, and in hindsight, I wish I'd asked what the wait time for food would be. I didn't do this, and we ended up waiting for around 35 minutes after we'd been seated. I ordered the Badgers Beef Burger and my son the buttermilk chicken burger. Both meals come with a side of your choice. I got chunky chips, my son ordered skinny fries and we both ordered a side of pepper sauce. The beef burger was nice, but slightly overcooked for my preference and could have used a relish or sauce on the burger because it was quite dry, though a mayo style dip is provided on the side. No complaints on the chicken burger from my son! The atmosphere in the bar is really nice though and the menu is extensive and well curated with a mix of traditional and contemporary meals and small plates on offer. The music playlist was right up my street, mostly well known and loved 90s and early 00s hits!

Very busy place, pretty nice atmosphere and character with a nice variety of decorations. Roast beef was overcooked and tough. Beef and Guinness stew was ok. Cearser dirty salad was bad. Parsley sauce just had dried parsley sitting at the bottom of the service cup, and we had stir it to mix in the parsley . Philly cheese steak was nothing special. Irish breakfast was fine. Thick fries were ok, not greasy. The garlic potatoes cubes were tasty. Small tap list of beets. Guiness was poured properly. The Rough as Badger hazy IPA had a very mild hop flavour for a hazy IPA, I was expecting more flavour. The booth seating is very short in depth maybe 13 inches in depth, so seating was not comfortable. Service was pretty good and friendly.

Badgers Bar & Restaurant is an absolute gem! The food is out of this world—every dish bursts with flavor and the portions are proper hearty. Their “Derry Grill” Irish breakfast is hands-down the best I’ve ever had, and the pint of Guinness that goes with it is pure class. The staff are warm, chatty, and make you feel right at home from the minute you walk in. They’re dog-friendly at certain tables—just ring ahead or pop in and try your luck. Between the buzzing atmosphere, amazing grub, and top-notch service, this pub is not to be missed!

We had an awful service experience tonight. Two ladies behind the bar, and we had 2 rounds of drink before everyone left for the Dubliners show in the Millenium Forum. There were 4 of us ladies having a lovely time. Then, after everyone left for the show, there was only us 4 left and we went to bar to order another round but no one was there. A few minutes later, we saw a lady at the far side near the side entrance and asked her if we could order a drink. She said NO we had to go to the bar ( we were sitting at a table right beside the bar). I asked if we could not order from our table, bearing in mind we were at a table right beside the bar, and I would collect the drinks at the bar. She said we couldn't do that, and her attitude was awful. She continued to argue with us even though we said we were experienced in the bar trade and asked us to leave. We asked for the ladies names but they refused.

Overall awful service and attitude and we will not be back. Maybe they are not getting enough pay or training but definitely not great service for a renound bar in our beautiful city for locals and tourists, I...

Had a day trip from Dublin to Derry last Saturday. Dropped my guests and decided to go for food somewhere. Well, I don't know the city so well, and I accidentally came across Badger's. Looked at the menu on the outside wall and thought I would go in as I hadn't much time to wander around. I knew that was going to be my only meal of the day. I went for the 10 oz stake, and to be honest, I didn't regret it. The stake was tender and flavourful. I never even touched the peppercorn sauce as I didn't want to lose all the good. Service was an excellent and nice and quiet atmosphere. Another great thing was that I was able to pay by card in euros, therefore avoided unnecessary costs. I will definitely come back again as the touring season...
