Don Txoko Norwich’s Premier Destination for Steak Lovers Right in the heart of Norwich City Centre, Don Txoko is a restaurant that understands something fundamental: when it comes to steak, there’s no room for compromise. And here, they absolutely deliver time and time again with some of the finest cuts and most perfectly executed cooking you’ll find anywhere in East Anglia. From the moment you walk in, there’s a quiet confidence about the place. The décor is contemporary but warm, with a subtle Basque influence that hints at the culinary roots behind the menu. Service is sharp yet personable staff who know the menu inside out and are clearly proud of what’s coming out of the kitchen. And rightly so because the steak at Don Txoko is exceptional. Every bite delivers that rare combination of melt-in-the-mouth tenderness and rich, smoky depth that only comes from a chef who truly understands the art of steak. There’s a confidence in letting the meat speak for itself no unnecessary embellishments, just beautifully balanced accompaniments. The wine list complements the menu beautifully, with bold reds that pair effortlessly with the richness of the meat, and the staff are more than happy to offer spot-on recommendations if you're unsure. Don Txoko isn’t just about eating it’s about experiencing steak at its very best. It’s a place where quality and craft take centre stage, where every element on the plate has been considered, and where the standard never seems to drop. If you’re a steak lover or even just a lover of good food Don Txoko is an absolute must. A Norwich gem with a serious culinary backbone, and a restaurant that proves steak done right is always worth seeking out. M the reviewer

Absolutely amazing!! The proverbial hidden gem, with outstanding, friendly service, lovely Spanish wines, and some of the best beef I've ever eaten!! I am a steak fan, and love a good bit of rib. The Galician beef they serve is some of the very best, and perfectly cooked, and perfectly seasoned. Served with a friendly smile and some interesting chat. The croquettas are also worthy of specific mention, being an exceptional, authentic, and bloody delicious rendition. Now, I have eaten great steaks in many restaurants, in many countries, but tonight Don Txoko did something that surprised me a lot; they took the prestigious award (in my head at least) of 'Best Steak I've Ever Eaten'... and there have been more than a few of these I can assure you. It takes something quite exceptional to be worthy of this coveted award, and to beat the other truly exceptional steaks I have eaten over the years. So, cutting to the chase, just go there! If you love steak, or you just appreciate good food, you will love it. It's only a small place (which adds to the charm) so book quickly before they get a well deserved three month waiting list! I cant wait for next month when I'm coming back to Norwich specifically to eat here.

Hola! I’m Spanish, and I ate here today — absolutely loved it. Spanish food is all about top-quality ingredients, and these guys have the best you can find on the market, cooked perfectly in true Spanish style. At last, I’ve found a place where I can enjoy real Spanish food — not something adapted to English tastes. If you want to experience authentic Spanish cuisine with ingredients sourced directly from Spain, this is the only place in Norwich. Don’t look any further. The service was also incredible — super friendly, warm, and welcoming. They really make you feel at home and looked after with genuine care. The new owners have absolutely nailed it!

Overall we did have a good experience here but after our second visit, wouldn't return.

The ambience was lovely, and the manager was very professional with all of the staff being welcoming and friendly. I particularly appreciated how seriously they took my gluten allergy. I would recommend anyone with this condition contacts them in advance as they confirmed on the day it was very difficult to avoid cross contamination. The manager was very clear about the risks which I liked.

The food itself was all very nice and couldn't really fault it, but the prices felt difficult to justify. The steak was very enjoyable, but at such a high price it really should have come with a side. The peppers that you could pair with the steak were very nice, but at that price given you're essentially paying for one pepper, a £7 supplement didn't feel good value and these could have been included.

It was also my wife’s birthday, and while it was nice of the staff to place the candles I brought onto her dessert, I was disappointed to be charged for the cheesecake given we'd already spent £150 on the meal. A small gesture like including that would have made the evening feel more special and made us more likely to return. Indeed, I don't remember being charged for one before. Moreover the 12% rather than 10% service charge and £36 for the most inexpensive wine didn't help.

So overall, while the service and food were good, so are many places elsewhere that don't charge such a premium so hard to recommend.

Hope this...
