Have been super keen to try this place for a while, and the raclette pop up was finally the thing that made me take the plunge. Growing up in France raclette was a huge part of my life, so to see a vegan option was incredibly exciting!
The wait staff were all incredibly friendly, we were sat quickly and given menus. Ordering drinks was also quick, I opted for the bottomless mulled wine (getting into the Christmas spirit!). The restaurant has some fun decor, and was nice and warm.
Unfortunately two hours later we still didnāt have our food, and the table next to us was served before, despite arriving maybe an hour after us.
There was no option for a start or and picky bits so at this point I was a little tipsy from having the wine with nothing to eat š
The wait staff and kitchen staff did keep apologising, and I am very aware they were all doing their best!
When the food arrived it was brilliant. I loved the apple, walnut and beetroot salad on the vegan plate. The veg were well cooked, and the cheese was constantly flowing.
When it came to paying, the table next to us was offered two free cocktails, and the monetary value of what we were offered was less. Which was pretty frustrating considering not only were we there longer, they got served before us. After some hack and forth we agreed to take the same monetary value off the bill. But the back and forth felt a bit cheeky.
I will likely try again in the future as I donāt like to discount places on...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhat an awesome little venue! We visited for the Mexican pop-up kitchen, and every aspect of the night was just great. The most authentic Mexican food we've had since actually visiting Mexico, loved the smoky corn cocktail (lovely to have a good choice for non-drinkers too) and the service was super fast and very warm and welcoming. Plenty of choice for vegans/veggies and gluten-free diners which was brilliant. Really liked what they've done with the decor too - there's a lot of character to it. Can't wait to come back every month and see what else has been lined up!
Being able to order and pay as we went with the QR code was also incredibly convenient and meant we never had to try and catch someone's eye to order another dish/drink or get a bill (though the staff were attentive enough that I'm sure that wouldn't be an issue if you chose to order using the regular paper menus) - this is a real gem for Norwich and I'll be recommending...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAttended with a friend to eat ChimChim Thai which I've had before from their food truck. The food was delicious and I loved the experimental elements of the menu too! We had a cocktail too and it was delicious. The decor inside First Draft is really interesting and unique and I personally loved it, though if you wanted a more traditional dining ambience it might not be up your street. I love the whole idea of the place providing small local food vendors an opportunity to work out of an actual restaurant for a month and giving customers a chance to try new and exciting foods..will definitely be returning in the new year...
