The car park can be tight on space if the pub is busy. On arrival was made to feel welcome by very friendly staff. Was shown the side guest entrance, this is a bonus, as you don’t need to enter and leave via the bar.|The room was clean, with just a little dust around skirting boards. The room included wardrobe, containing an iron and ironing board. Full tea and coffee making facilities. It included a coffee pod machine but disappointingly few pods. Biscuits and bottles of water were included on arrival. The view from room 4 is rather unique.|The bed was rather hard but comfortable enough.|The two evening meals we had, could have been better. The lasagna was overcooked and the chicken in the curry had not been dressed. (Gristly bits removed) and needed chopping smaller. Minor faults to otherwise nice meals.|The breakfast was spectacular in abundance. Juice, cereal, fresh fruit, cereal bars plus unlimited tea and fresh brewed coffe to accompany the cooked breakfast which had numerous choices.|The position of the William Iv is within walking distance of the city centre but as others have said is uphill when returning. As we used the car this did not bother us.|Would highly recommend. For value for money and lovely friendly staff.|Would...

Read moreAn excellent choice for a nostalgia trip back to Norwich, 15min walk from the station and 20mins from Tombland up/down Gas Hill. Don’t expect 5 star luxury but you get a genuine guest house pub with large rooms containing iron/hairdrier/coffee machine and even an EV charger in the car park though you may need to wait if it’s in use by the owner. Breakfast was fantastic with fruit/cereal/yoghurt including gluten free options as well as a cooked to order range of full English that arrives hot. There is a vegan option which curiously arrived with butter but they have dairy free spread (you have to ask for jam) and the large veggie brekkie was colossal! Room 4 seemed to be in the progress of an update with some missing tiles and a shower gel dispenser that was curiously by the sink away from the shower and the room WiFi seemed to stop working but the pub free Wifi worked fine. Overall, good value accommodation with large rooms, excellent breakfast, friendly staff and a genuine pub within easy reach of the city as well as the close by Lion Wood, Kett’s Heights, St James Viewpoint &...
