I have had the pleasure of dining at Fothergills in Nottingham on several occasions and each visit has left me thoroughly satisfied. As a frequent patron, I must commend the establishment for consistently delivering an exceptional dining experience. First and foremost, the quality of the food at Fothergills is truly outstanding. Every dish is crafted with utmost care and attention to detail, showcasing the culinary expertise of the talented chefs. From the tender, succulent meats to the perfectly cooked vegetables, each plate is a delight for both the eyes and the taste buds. The flavors are beautifully balanced, leaving me wanting more with every bite. Moreover, the presentation of the dishes is truly impeccable. The plates are artfully arranged and garnished, demonstrating a keen eye for aesthetics. It is evident that the chefs take great pride in their work, as each dish is a work of edible art. The attention given to the presentation adds an extra layer of enjoyment to the dining experience. In addition to the exceptional food, Fothergills also provides a charming and inviting atmosphere. The ambiance is warm and inviting, creating a relaxing and comfortable setting for a meal. The staff is courteous, attentive, and always willing to go the extra mile to ensure a pleasant dining experience. Overall, I cannot recommend Fothergills highly enough. It is truly a gem in Nottingham's culinary scene. Whether you are looking for a special occasion dinner or just a casual meal, Fothergills is the perfect choice. The quality of the food, the impeccable presentation, and the delightful atmosphere make it a top-notch dining destination. I am already looking forward to my next visit and indulging in the culinary delights that Fothergills has to offer.

By far the best food we've had in the UK so far. We're visiting from the states and came up to Nottingham for a concert. We were looking for traditional British food, and really wanted the whole Sunday Roast experience. We couldn't find anything advertised anywhere so we wandered around exploring a bit. We settled on Fothergills, thinking we were out of luck finding what we were looking for. We were pleasantly surprised when we were handed our menus with the Sunday Roast selection. I got the lamb shank and my girlfriend got the chicken. Both were absolutely incredible. The portions were perfect, large but not too much. We also got the cauliflower cheese, garlic bread, and rustic chips, which were all amazing. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive, even with the place being packed. We ended with the sticky toffee pudding, another British staple we hadn't had since arriving. No words can describe how perfect it was. If you find yourself in Nottingham in the mood for the full experience on a Sunday, I'd be shocked if you could find a better option. Phenomenal find.

Me and my Husband came here for breakfast, we went with the Veggie breakfast and even though it was presented so lovely it just wasn't hot at all. The butter was completely melted so we had to just pour it out of the wrapper. The beans were cold so were instantly put a side, everything else lukewarm. There was only us and 2 tables full so it was very disappointing as it seemed like either the food had been standing in the kitchen a long time or food had been made up for earlier for previous customers and was let just to cool down. The staff that served us and said bye to us were really nice. We weren't asked about allergies and also we weren't asked how we wanted our eggs - which wasn't a problem we were just surprised there weren't not options available. My egg was lovely whereas my husbands was dry and not runny at all. The menu also says 2 eggs but we were only given 1 each. The atmosphere was nice with the twinkling lights inside. The toilets were clean. Perhaps if we had breakfast earlier then it would have been a better experience.

Seated upstairs with 1 other small table, 1 large party, and 1 medium party. 2 servers on upstairs. Downstairs was full, busy evening, so the speed of service being slower was expected.

The staff were friendly, if not distracted by the larger group. Had to ask a couple of times for glasses and suitable cutlery (steak knife).

Being a table of 4, we ordered wine, 4 starters, and 4 mains. Starters arrived after around 45 mins. They were ok.

Mains around 35/40 mins after that. The chorizo in the pasta still had the non-edible skin on and eventhough it is a given chorizo is greasy, the dosh was swimming in grease and lacked flavour (2 people had this). The steak had to be returned as it was blue/rare and not medium. This was taken away on its own and returned in a few mins having been refired. It return slightly more cooked and I just ate it as I was really hungry at this point. The 4th dish was the pork with mash potato. The mash looked like it had been under a heat lamp for 3 days and was extremely dry considering its description of creamy mash.

Having mentioned this to the staff, a very polite lady, assuming the supervisor, came to speak to the table and advised that this is not usually the case with service. She removed the 2 pasta dishes and the steak, along with a discount. Then gave us 2 desserts to take away. We didn't request any of this, we were just making them aware of the poor quality of the food. This action is why the service is marked as a 3, however doesn't make up for the overall experience.

As for the atmosphere, we were sat right in the draft of the air conditioning which made it hard to stay warm upstairs. However, we did not request to be moved so this one is more of a heads up to consider...

We came as a group of 10 for a leaving party for a family member. We booked for 10 via phone days in advance, upon arrival there was only seats for 6/7. We then moved another tablet I fit in the 10 as we originally booked for but the male manager with the glasses came and threw a hissy fit stating ‘we can’t do what we want when we come into a restaurant’. First of all Mr Manager with the bad attitude, we booked beforehand and you or your colleague had confirmed. The corner that you booked us in, just about fit all 10 of us so what’s the harm in moving another side table to fit us all in? We was waiting for someone to set this up for us but the service was slow, did you you expect a group of 10 to just stand around awkwardly waiting for your highness to sort the tables out when it was confirmed to be set up for the time we booked? The managers attitude was so bad, akin to a teenager throwing a hissy fit for something trivial. Honestly, it was giving having troubles at home but bringing that bad energy to work.

Anyway, I myself had the red snapper risotto and it was so salty. After that fiasco with the tables, I didn’t want to cause more issues by complaining so I just had to chug water after every spoon. We had a lady waitress who was nice. My sisters steak was nice at least.

I rated the atmosphere high because we still enjoyed our own company at the end...
