Upon arriving the car park was easy to find and accessible to hotel via lift, carpark was an additional £18 per day to park this was with hotel discount.|First impressions were it looked a lovely hotel however....||Once checking in at 3pm after a long journey as a party of two adults and a 12 year old child found only 2 towels and 2 cups in room, child bed was a camp bed with thin mattress which springs could be felt and child said he was very uncomfortable laying on it, not the sofa bed as described on our booking.||Went down to reception and informed them, they was able to rectify cup and towel situation (even though i had to do this every day as they didnt restock three only 2 each day) but said they would see what they could do about the bed being changed and left it with them, I asked for a topper or another duvet to add on as extra comfort for 1st night but after an hour of sleep child woke up to say he was unable to sleep because of springs so thankfully because of our king size bed was able to sleep with us, not ideal but didnt have much choice.|| The next day was told the bed was only ones they provide, had i known this for a 3 night stay and our child had to sleep in our bed for entire stay I wouldn't have picked this hotel.||The kettle was also not able to be boiled on stand near tea station as no socket nearby had to boil either on floor or bedside stand, not ideal or safe. I also mentioned to reception to only get the response there has been several complaints about this in the past and it must have been a man who designed the room!||After a heated discussion on front desk they offered to refund the room for the last night and vacate or a discount but was to late to start looking around for another hotel and also had booked trips around Nottingham to cancel trip so opted for free breakfasts for last morning of stay, however found breakfast to be mediocre at best wish i had opted for discount now.||To add further more problems moths kept flying around room each day which I kept catching, 2 alive clothes moths in cup on second day and then a futher 2 in room but didnt know what they was to start as never seen them before till i took a photo them and looked them up. In total caught 10, and the room always smelt a bit fusty when entering.|Took some moths down to reception to tell them and all what was said was they would notify housekeeping, didnt seem very concerned at all.||I have stayed in many hotels on our travels around the country and can honestly say this is far the worst 4 star hotel for sleeping arrangements we have stayed in, was not impressed with how staff treated situation either not very helpful and seemed uninterested. Certainly wont be returning or...
Read moreWelcoming and Impressive Foyer, friendly staff who wanted to help. Ideal location at the top of town and perfect for our visit to Rock City. The lounge area was really comfortable and clean plus the restaurant & breakfast area was spacious and easily navigated even when busy.
Room/Bathroom:
Room was clean (although ready for a deep clean re carpets and skirtings etc), bed was huge and really comfortable plus lots of storage for clothes etc
Bonus to have a fridge with a bottle of water each per day. Tea/coffee tray well stocked and no problems asking housekeeping for extra milk. Other teabags such as decaff tea and mint tea available at breakfast so took some back to the room.
We has pre-requested a quiet zone room and didn't have any noise from party goers or music venues
Bathroom toiletries were full and shower was easy to use. A hook or towel ring on the sink unit for the hand towel would have been really helpful but other rails for larger towels were good.
Spa/Pool
This was very small so it looked busy with a handful of people but was nice to have it available. Steam room was great as was the Jacuzzi. There were more chairs needed round the pool but not a big issue as we didn't stay in the spa area for longer than 60 mins.
We had a neck/shoulder/back massage on our 2nd day which was very good and price was comparable to other spas.
Breakfast:
Breakfast was amazing! So much on offer so it would cater to all tastes (allergies etc catered for by ordering if buffet not suitable). Both days breakfast kept us going until late afternoon - plus we were encouraged to take fruit/pastry with us for a snack which we really appreciated. Food replenished regularly and all cooked items were of good quality and hot. A new toaster was on order so the household toasters struggled to cook the toast fast enough but expect this will be resolved shortly.
Other:
Secure Car Park was a huge bonus and worth having the package that included the parking fee.
Nottingham has a host of things to offer for all and we are already considering coming back for a family break to include the city caves and castle. We would happily choose to stay at the Crowne Plaza again. The Pit & Pendulum pub was my personal fave and we saw live music at the...
