Went with my mother to see the Dolly Parton Musical: ‘Here you come again’ today (Thursday 11th July 2024) at 2pm. We were sat on the right hand side of the theatre in aisle seats and unfortunately there was a couple behind us behaving in a way that was rude and disruptive. I tried to put up with them for a bit but after a while my patience with them was fading. I saw a lady who worked for the theatre near to my seat and asked if I could talk to her outside the doors, I explained what was going on and she was very understanding and kind, she went to speak to her colleague and then returned with a man and stood near the couple that were causing trouble, they seemed to quieten down slightly then. The staff later approached us and gave us the opportunity to move to seats closer to the stage but still in the aisle which was perfect for my mum and I as I struggle with anxiety and my mum is immunocompromised so we like to be near to the exits and not have too many stairs or get too caught up in crowds trying to get out. We were then able to fully enjoy the rest of the show undisturbed; it was a great show too. I wanted to give a special mention to the staff members who helped me; Nora, thank you for being so quick to respond and for being so lovely about it and Ben, thank you for also being lovely and joining Nora in keeping an eye on the pesky couple; thank you both for helping us to fully enjoy the show today. It’s such a wonderful theatre and I’m sure we’ll continue to make more happy memories there. It’s not just the people on the stage who make the theatre great, your staff members are a credit to the...

I came to see the rocky horror show on Wednesday 23rd, we were sat on Row B, seats 29, 30 & 31, we chose these seats, so we could be close to the stage and have a good view. We required an end seat, due to a member of the party, having mobility issues.

We were very disappointed with these seats, as we were unable to see the full stage, as the curtain wasn't fully open and we were unable to see the cast coming into the stage and parts of the show.

The gentleman in front of us and myself, complained to the steward and asked if they could move the curtain further across, so that we could see the rest of the stage and the scenes.

The stewardess, didn't seem to be bothered about our complaint or interested in fully addressing this, said that the curtain was that way, as this is how the production team wanted this, she said that they could move us to a different seat, it wasn't convenient for us to move, due to needing an end seat and when we asked where she could or would move us to, she couldn't tell me, where she could move us to or if we were even going to be able to sit together.

She advised she would let her manager know, but this was all that was said.

There was nowhere online when we booked the tickets (in October 2022) saying that the seats were restricted viewing, we paid full price and weren't able to see the full show.

I am very disappointed with my...

I’ve loved coming here for over two decades both the theatre and concert hall. The staff are very friendly and helpful, there is a lift to all floors and disabled toilets, there’s a bar that sells food and drinks and they do offer fine dining if you book in advance, only eaten there once as a Christmas treat two years ago and they were very friendly and so helpful they went above and beyond for my mum who has a dietary requirement and literally went to the local shop so she could eat the full meal and not miss out on anything. They were told in advance. This is in the dress circle floor of the theatre next to the bar, they played piano live music while we ate and it was a full a la carte menu. Was a little more money than we would normally pay for a meal out but worth every penny! Portions were generous as well. If I have any sort of thing to moan about it would be please do different pantos at Christmas! We have been coming for almost 30 years and sick of seeing Peter Pan and Aladdin and Cinderella! But it’s always a laugh and fun. But gets boring seeing the same ones. Love the ballets and concerts, the in house productions have always been great. Looking forward to this years shows. They also do a carer ticket with the relevant proof you can apply online and has made it so I can go to the theatre and have...

After a recent visit to listen to The Planets. In which we had seats at the very top of the concert hall. I can say the acoustics aren't brilliant, but good enough to actually hear solo pieces, even better if you can get lucky and have few coughs. It seemed any time a person in the hall coughed by the time it reached our seats it had been doubled or tripled in volume! Not a very large stage so the choir had to be offstage. Which actually gave the Neptune closing a hauntingly beautiful ethereal feeling. It set the hairs down the back of my neck on edge not seeing them. Because of this a free to attend after hours event was run. Where the choir performed for 40 mins. This would have been lovely to attend, but without advanced notice it was happening alternate plans had been made for the evening. The seating is extremely sheer, and the photo just does not do justice to how vertical it felt sitting there. It felt as if there was at least a 2ft drop between rows and the walkway to get to your seats was very very narrow. Thankfully we had row end seats. As someone who does not do heights at all I shall ensure any future visits, not in the stalls, are row ends for this very reason! And that I don't look down till after the music starts and the lights dim.

Came to watch Jake Bugg and his support acts here. Nice building from the outside, with plenty of people watching opportunities whilst standing in the queue (Hull never disappoints, does it?) Parking was a five minute walk to Albion St car park. It was free after 6pm, which was a nice bonus for a city centre (you almost need a second mortgage to visit Nottingham and Leeds these days). Inside we walked up some nice steps to get to the main hall. It was fairly dark in there so I can't really comment, except that the sound and lighting and so forth were as you'd expect for a good live music concert. Apparently the drinks menu was a bit limited but my partner in crime managed to bring back a Rekorderlig and a Black Sheep Ale so I don't think either of us had grounds for complaint. He reported that the toilets were fine, but I was left to guard our front row spaces so I again find myself unable to comment on the ladies'. Thanks Theatre Royal, I'll keep an eye out for future events 👍🏼
