“Oh my goodness” was the first thoughts that came to mind when I entered the Curious Café and Gift Shop in Bulwell, Nottingham, the Alice in Wonderland inspired café located at a former doctors surgery and medical centre. Bedecked outside with flowers and with paintings of characters from Alice in Wonderland this cheerful and friendly café is a refreshing and delightful place to sit a take a short break. Inside you will find a tree in the tea room painted in bright colours and a big clock on the wall.
By the door is a big pink flamingo and a Cheshire cat. The ceiling shows half an Alice falling through the rabbit hole. And on the wall are kiddy chairs and even a small door near the entrance. In the hall way there are Hats to try on and the gift shop has a large selection of goodies.
The menu is simple Tea and Coffee various cakes and baked goods sandwiches just the usual tea room items and many at £2 each.
I had a latte and a delicious coffee and walnut cupcake with melt in the mouth icing topping and a moist base. Waiting time was 5 minutes brought directly to the table that was decorated with a white and furry swag with mushrooms attached to it. (I am still looking for Absalom having been back a couple of times) Every visit so far I have been impressed with the staff and the delights offered. Little girls love the café and their eyes light up when the enter. Whoever had the idea to theme the café struck the perfect chord for children. One other inspired item was the sit and chat table where you do not need to actually buy but can sit and chat to the other customers.
The café is wheel chair accessible with plenty of onsite parking and is easy to find on the main road leaving Bulwell...
Read moreAbsolutely fantastic place! Decorated so beautifully, food is lovely and the staff are so friendly and helpful! Today we attended for my daughter birthday party (£15 per person). It was absolutely amazing. Everyone loved coming. Dance hall with Dj, lights and air juggler. An afternoon tea with so much to eat and drink in such an amazingly designed room. What was left over we got to take home. We were asked if the Cheshire Cat would like to make an appearance and honestly I could not be happier. All the children were able to have their photos taken. We had forgotten birthday candles and they went out their way to help us. Everything was taken care of that I didn't even need to lift a finger. Absolutely amazing!! Thank you so...
Read moreBrilliant cafe, the staff go above and beyond to make sure you have the best experience. We recently took the children to visit Santa there and have breakfast, it was amazing quality, the best Santa experience we have had for the children. They even went out their way to provide us with a vegan breakfast which was really appreciated. I would highly recommend a visit and check out their gift shop too, I always go there when I want to gift something unusual...
