Oh my word. Without doubt the worst restaurant experience I've had in decades, possibly ever.
Visited as part of a family group. Menu is bizarre. It's allegedly Italian but there are not many italian dishes on the menu. I'm pretty broad minded in my taste and will eat pretty much anything...and I struggled to find anything on this menu that even sounded edible.
Went for the Soup of the Day...Vegetable, with roast red pepper and fresh "home made" bread. Well, it tasted like Heinz vegetable soup out of a can with a couple of fragments of red pepper in it. Two sad basil leaves on top. The bread was a supermarket part baked baguette type roll ... and was burnt. Unimpressive starter, but at least it was edible.
Main course - Char-grilled Chicken Tagliatelle in a mushroom and basil cream sauce. This was not edible. Undercooked pasta. Overcooked (and not char-grilled) chicken. The sauce was indescribably awful. Utterly inedible.
I declined dessert!
My partner also had the soup and then had a vegetarian pasta dish...that she ate three pieces of. Her son when for a Lamb Penne dish - where the penne could have been used as rubber grommets - he left it all too.
At no point, for either soup or main course were we offered pepper or parmesan etc.
Add to this the service: Waitresses were all very young girls who did not know the menu, referred to Polo Chicken, unable to identify the dishes they had brought to the table etc. One spilt one of our party's dishes and just stood still until my Partner took charge and told her what to do. Waitresses served my Partner by leaning across me and over my food, stood at the end of the table and shouted at customers, argued with us when we asked for things. It was a party of ten I accept but the table was booked for 7pm, starters arrived around 8, and several of us had to chase for the mains which eventually arrived around 9.30. During the chasing for the meal we were subjected to one waiters vitriolic claims that it was the Chef's fault that things were slow! Owner/Maitre D? spent the evening swanning around and hugging what appeared to be his friends but was absent when anyone tried to complain. At the end a waitress looked at my full plate of inedible food and asked whether everything was ok...when I told her it wasn't the response was "oh sorry" and take the plate away.
Toilet was disgusting 1970's style domestic type. P*ss stained and rotten toilet seat. Brown lumps on the floor. Rotting windows etc.
I will never return.
This was the worst restaurant. How they remain in business when there are so many good choices around Leicester I do not...
Read moreNEVER again, not a good experience. First impressions were not good; very dirty in places - the seat covers were filthy and hadn't been cleaned in months (or even years), there was black mildew around all of the windows, the radiators were dirty and the skirting boards hadn't seen a cleaning cloth for years either. If the visible parts of the restaurant are like this, what the heck are the kitchens like? Then the food ..... We ordered a mushroom starter which was served by the owner who literally picked up and man-handled our food in front of us, sticking his (non-gloved) thumbs into our food in order to break it open and remove a cooking 'cup' from within the bruschetta basket; absolutely disgusted at this. My wife couldn't eat her food after that and I struggled to continue. We persevered and when the main course arrived (a goat's cheese pasta dish for my wife and a chicken tagliatelle for myself) we were very disappointed; my wife struggled to find any goats cheese in the pasta parcels and found the sauce insipid; my dish was thick and stodgy and not at all pleasant . We were then overcome with the smell of cigarette smoke coming into the restaurant from the kitchen. At this point, we both left our food and decided to leave, but having asked for our bill, we were ignored and kept waiting for another 10 minutes with no contact from the owner, before we eventually just got up, went to the bar, paid and left. We were both unwell during the night following our meal! Whilst there are some good reviews, I would very strongly avoid...
Read moreWe visited here tonight and from the booking the table to leaving it was only OK! At best. It's such a shame as the place has potential as the food was tasty. We had a voucher deal and on booking was told on the phone he had to check because they can only take 25% vouchers on the night as its not worth there while! Nice. Anyway upon arrival we were impressed with the setting and surroundings...somewhat. the glasses weren't very clean and water marks on cutlery. The waitress forgot our wine till after our starter which was nice.. Goats cheese a little cold, but tasty. I ordered the seafood siesta. Which upon arrival I was shocked to find there was no pasta with it just a few mussels prawns and a peice of small salmon and 2 tiny pieces of bread. It was tasty just more like a starter.. It needed more bread or pasta or something. So was dissapointed... I said this to the girl but she said it says on the menu there's no pasta with it.... It doesn't! Anyway we ordered the cheese board as I was still hungry and that was nice. We waited 20mins to even ask for Bill so walked downstairs. It's a shame as a voucher should be used more so to gain more customers. But I don't think I'd be rushing back. Tasty food but not great service or portions. Also the manager downstairs had no recollection of our wine not being brought or me complaining about my dish! Maybe the staff should inform him. I wasn't going to twice. It was made from the start vouchers werent going to receive the...
